Anyone own or owned one of these? Any feedback would be appreciated. I'm looking for a cruiser for comfortable two up riding with my wife and I and this is the bike I am most interested in. I love the look and figure with a new seat with back support for her (she's got a bad back and can't ride on the back of the Bolt) will be ready for some nice cruising. | ||

Same platform as the Ultra, Classic, Road King and Road Glide. Virtually the same bike as the Electraglide Standard. Seating position is more road king / road glide than E-glide - you sit further back on the bike, which at 6'4" with a 34" inseam I like. E-glides I feel like I'm doing things to the tank that I shouldn't be doing in public. Sundowner seat is the way to go. Passenger comfort, great support for the driver, excellent for the long haul. Backrests are available in various (I think 4 or 5) heights, with different size/shape pads. Build your own to fit  Spring for the four point docking kit now, in case you want to add a luggage rack or tour pack later. Demodemodemodemo. Demo. Did I say demo? Ride it first. Make sure you like it. It's a great bike, but it's still a chunk of change no matter who you are. Stereo is top notch (used to use Harman Kardon gear when I did concerts for a living), XM and Nav upgrades are available, ABS is awesome - just remember to put your feet down NOW because that's how fast you stop. Cruise is just like your car - pick a MPH, hit set, steer. Brake/clutch, it cancels. Traffic clears, hit 'resume', away you go again. Air shocks rock...'bout as close as you can get to a Buell suspension on a bagger. That said....once I got my Ulysses, my wife said "we don't need the Road King anymore". So, we no longer own a Road King (just more Buells). Don't count out the Uly until you try it too. | ||

I have an 07 street glide, Uly is more comfortable but is really difficult to get passengers on back. with a bad back already I think I would pass on a Uly. The SG is much easier for women to get on but also low enough that they will think about driving it also. It is extremely well balanced and comfy for any distance riding. Look into the HD hammock seat for the 09 SG. Looks like it would be better than sundowner. I put on the chopped tour pack for a backrest, looks good and women really do want to haul stuff with them. Better to comply than fight, standard rule amongst bagger people is the rider gets the tourpack and one side bag for her stuff. The driver gets the downside bag on the left and whatever he want to bungee on top. You will want to add the wind deflector between the fork legs to cut down drafts, also lowers of some sort for cold days. I use the chrome wind deflectors and removed the engine guard. Warm is always good in MN. | ||

The EG classic is basically the same bike but with more stuff for the same money. You can strip down the classic to get the look of the SG and sell the stuff if you want. The Classic also has the longer( better for 2 up) rear shocks. Rick | ||

The Street Glide has shorter rear shocks which will give a harsher ride, especially with a passenger on board. It also does not have the same cornering clearance as the other FL touring models. For the best handling of the FL line the Road Glide will beat them all with its frame mounted fairing not being effected by crosswinds or turbulence from trucks. For a large person the Road Glide also feels roomier. |
