No, I'm not going to boot camp.

I have joined the Buell army!

I have taken a part time position with BW sponsor Bumpus HD/Buell selling bikes.

I will be working Friday afternoons and Saturdays.

If you need a bike and you're in the area, come see me.

I don't ask you where you get your money - don't ask us where we get the motorbikes.
Another dark night, another sleepy watchman - ANOTHER DEAL FOR YOU!

Ft-B.

Good on you! I did that for a few weeks one summer in the late nineties. Same schedule, late Friday afternoon and Saturdays.

I had loads of fun. Spreading the gospel, as it were.

Hey, they don't let you do that unless you actually own a Buell, right?

Hopefully this indicates you'll be back in the family soon.

I found a loophole as it were.

You can be in the Buell Army AND sell Buells is you promise to lick a Buell at least once a day.

Who knew?

Barker,

Drewpy came and test rode an 1125R and CR.

He is interested in an XB oddly enough.

Congratulations!

Sounds like a fun gig, and it will get you back in the saddle too. Plus, Buell gets another true believer pushing product.

Buell gets another true believer pushing product. Very true. Ft B great deal. There is something comforting about buying a product from someone that knows the product. Something we do not see a lot of in some dealerships.

Work like Dave Steuve used to when he was at Appleton, hard, you will sell bikes and make clients not customers.

"On the down side you are no longer eligible for the Adventure Grant.

Less competition for me!

Congratulations on the new gig FB. I'd love to meet a salesperson just once who has half a clue what they're talking about.

It's a turnoff for me when I'm told that the 1125 is a smaller engine and better beginner bike than the air cooled 1200cc models.

Yeah, I enjoyed the test ride yesterday. It was fun to see him look back at me and say "this IS my next bike".

The largest issue I see is the lack of advertising about Buells in general.

Yesterday was a fairly light day overall. On this Saturday, three current Buell owners stopped by (I got to meet Ccryder-Neil Schwartz--GREAT TO MEET YOU BTW!) and two sport bike riders stopped by. That was it for "Buell traffic" overall for yesterday.

I believe that there needs to be an increased national advertising presence.

I did get one interesting comment yesterday.

"I wish Honda dealers treated Honda riders as well as Buell dealers treated Honda riders. I feel more welcome here than I do with my own kind, so I come here to hang out."

I think we have a real opportunity.

Congrats FB! I have often thought this would be something fun to do to make a little extra cash. As our Buell family stands at the dawn of a trio, I guess I would be qualified.

We'll save the answer for another thread! Stay tuned.

FB - best of luck! You will do great spreading the Buell word. What an asset to the dealership to have someone who is a Buell enthusiast to answer questions for perspective Buell owners.

The last time I was at my local dealer I was loitering the buell area when I saw some prospective buyers. I started up a conversation and had the 1125r pretty much sold by the time the salesman walked up. Turns out Im a pretty convincing Buell salesman. I dont know if I would even need to get paid to do that. I really felt good when I left.

BTW congrats on your new gig. Sounds like you should hang out at the local Honda dealer and pick up some new potential buyers that have been neglected by their own kind!

Don't think I'm not considering it.

"Dealer won't let you test ride a bike unless you sign a purchase order? Come test ride a Buell and I'll give you a bike lock and lunch."

Interesting that in my "Nine Ways to Sell a Buell" that one of the points was:

quote:

"dealers should establish, nurture and leverage a relationship with enthusiastic local Buell owners. Even with comprehensive training provided dealer personnel, many Buell owners are abreast of Buell features and benefits and make the most compelling sales presentation"

"Nine Ways to Sell a Buell"
Is that in print somewhere?
I'd love to read it in it's entirety.

I've always liked that picture!
