Muslim migrants riot in Athens * Athens * May 24, 2009 Dozens of cars have been smashed, 14 people injured and 46 arrested in riots by Muslim migrants over the alleged defacing of a Koran by a policeman. Police fired tear gas and stun grenades at hundreds of protesters outside Parliament in the city centre. Police said they would investigate the allegation that an officer tore up an Iraqi migrant's Koran while checking his identity papers in Athens last week. "But this isolated incident cannot justify these acts of violence," said Interior Minister Christos Markoyiannakis. Waves of illegal immigration in recent years have led to an influx of Muslims, mostly from Pakistan and Afghanistan, living in run-down parts of central Athens. Greek rights activist Thanassis Kourkoulas said the protest showed the migrants "have a voice". Yea, a voice from the ninth century. Here is the fate that awaits Europe | ||

What facts? All I saw was an unverified video clip full of unprovable projections & scaremongering rhetoric. Don't know if you've ever been to Europe, I've lived here all my life & been to most of the countries of the EU & others that haven't joined. I don't recognize that picture at all. I find it both amusing & disturbing that such a clip should be targeted at Americans, after all your country was founded on immigration. I've neither the time or the inclination to bat statistics back & forth. As Marvin Gaye sang, "Believe half of what you read & none of what you hear" Europe's got it's problems, where hasn't though? but it's far from on the brink. | ||

This isn't new information. There are plenty of sources to backup the hard facts contained in the video. By hard facts, I mean the birth statistics and the rate of Islamic immigration. Personally, I could care less what Europe does to itself. With the next war in Europe, you all are on your own. Fortunately for you, many are beginning to wake up in Europe to the dangers even if you're completely ignorant to the facts. | ||

A good friend of mine is a rabbi that grew up in London. At age 26 he moved to the US, following a great deal of his extended family. They grew up in a community and were close with Muslim neighbors. They are very liberal and I've heard him specifically argue with people that discriminate or say negative things against Muslims. However, they now fear that Jews will not be safe in the UK in the long-term due to this trend of rapidly increasing Muslim population with enough minority radical elements to have them fear for their kid's safety in the future. Is he correct? I don't know. But, he was not in the US looking at YouTube making those conclusions. He was living it day-to-day as a non-judgemental person. When you see a Scandinavian newspaper staff fear for their lives after publishing cartoons, you have to wonder how it might affect you in a similar environment. | ||

I have often told people that I enjoyed the movie "300". I also tell them that it IS violent, and NOT for children, the squeamish, and ancient Persians. ( the iranian Govt. was upset by it, but when aren't they? ) It is after all a few millenia old propaganda piece, and one that unfairly ignores the contribution of the Thesbians in that important battle. ( THES-bians, not the people who wish to marry one another ) The demographics though, are stark. Europeans, for that matter most societies that have reached a basic level of liberal civilization & wealth, are breeding themselves out of existence for purely selfish reasons. True, some believe that bringing more children into the world is a bad thing from an ecological standpoint, but they have other psychological troubles as well, and perhaps should not breed. Naturally, low income people in less free societies breed faster, in order to assure some few children survive to adulthood, and then will support their elders. Bad news is that when transplanted to a rich society with modern medicine, instead of a 10-30% survival rate ( based on yearly variations in starvation ) they have closer to a 90% rate. So a Scotsman has 2 kids, and the nice family that moved in from Quatar down the lane have 8. You do the math on how well the scotsman's kids will do preventing Sharia law from doing nasty things to them if they do not act as 8th century mysogynists tell them. | ||

No, Ferris, he's not over reacting at all. Canadian judiciary practices are equally guilty of granting special privilege to those groups who deem themselves to be worthy of rights beyond those of the individual. We seriously need another novelist or artist like Ayn Rand........ | ||
