Expect to see a lot of chrome on the trip. Good camping areas, tho rates are best closer to Duluth and Superior. Lacrosse to Winona on both sides of the river has some excellent but moderate twisties that generally don't require ballistic riding gear. There's always the Black Hills, tied as my favorite with US 129/the Dragon down in TN/SC/GA. Lots of great backroads, lots of lodging options. Not sure how the holiday would affect traffic out there. If time is an issue tho, hit the super slab as there is far too much in the way of small towns in SW MN and E SD. Good luck.
