When I started riding, 5 years ago, I was very deliberate about my helmet selection. I didn't want to ever have to buy another one.

They make great garage art on a shelf around the walls

Garage art is cool, so is target practice. Just put a properly sized cantaloupe or other small melon inside for best results.

Oh, I believe my current lid is almost five years old, previous helmets done in two to three year intervals.
