I have a 2008 xb12s cherry bomb red. and I was going to get the pegs, heel gaurds, clutch, brake foot levers powder coated to match the rims. I was looking at another posts that had red and blue mixed together. I was looking at the bike this morning and noticed the blue pegasus on the seat and the blue logo on the sadlle bags. I'm wondering what it would look like if I P.C. those parts blue. Maybe the under seat frame to, if it's not to hard to take off. If anybody gets bored and wouldn't mind giving me a preview, that would be awesome.

I did the Shop on the bike you saw. So let me get this straight, you want a cherry bomb bike with the pegs, heel guards, and seat rails blue? or red?

Yes. I'm sure the red would look good. So I really wanted to see what the blue would look like.

You guys rock! I had it in my head to do like the first picture, but after wolfridgerider did that, and seeing the second picture with the blue I'm not sure. Deffinatly don't have the $ for the blue rims but I do think it would look good like pic 2 with red rims and the under tale P.C. grey like the other part of the frame. I have to decide by Tuesday. Thanks again guys BTW what do you guys think?

First one but more burgundy instead of red. I think it would go better with the airbox cover.

I think Greg's right. I like the idea of colored parts, but think all the colors should be the same...all blue, all red.

Its not always easy to recolor the parts and get a good match. The silver pieces are a little stubborn, and the closer I got to matching the wheels/airbox the more fake it looked. I figured its 90% there, use your imagination for the other 10%.

Hue, Saturation, and Brightness filter is also very useful.

True dat! I use the lasso tool with expand by x pixels and feather by y pixels.

Then new layer, paste selection, then playing with opacity and color. Seems to keep the most detail.

On shiney metal, or silver stuff, I add a color layer and use the "Multiply" feature. keeps the shininess.

Photoshop is my bestus friend.

I did use several layers, played with the color curves and the hue/saturation. That was about as close as I could get it without looking fake. I am not a pro, but I get better with each chop : )

Also, I am using Paint.net, its free, not quite as good as Photoshop, but I got more important things to blow my cash on. I need to look for that color layer thing, I don't recall seeing it in Paint.net

Yup, practice is good, always challenge yourself with little image projects. Get pixelated! If you don't use it, you loose it!

A great way to stay in the groove, and learn new tricks, and tips is to enter contests, or at least follow them on your own.
http://www.worth1000.com/ is probably the most famous. The members are a hard audience, and the rules are strictly enforced.
http://photoshopcontest.com/ is another good site, and more n00b friendly.
http://www.photoshoptalent.com/ is newer, and I don't know much about it, and I am not a member, so info is very limited.
All the sites have good tutorials, and stuff to try out.

I could just download it then. I downloaded a pirated copy of CS4 to play around with it for a few months, but I don't use it enough get a good feel or justify the cost of purchasing it, so I uninstalled it. Also, I do most of my 'shops while at work, and wouldn't be able to use it there either. Thank you for the offer anyway. : )
