I am thinking of buying an S2 dash with instruments, will it work on an M2? Does anyone have a pic of one? What flyscreen will I have to use? The guy has no camera so I am not sure. Ken | ||

totally different set-up, Blasterd. the gauges are the same size, but on the S2 they are chucked up in a thin CF (could just be plastic) "dash" that mounts to three internally-threaded risers that come up from the fairing stay. could be done, i suppose, but i'd probably consider buying his dash and gauges and then obtaining an aluminum bezel (a la the S1) that you could mount the gauges in, which i THINK then would bolt up to your Cyclone w/o any further modification. if you go this route, i have a cracked but fully functional aluminum bezel i'd gladly mail you for nothing, and i'd be intere$ted in the S2 dash piece if you do decide to part with it. ride to lean, FB | ||

Ferris Blasterd your M2 gauges will not fit.The gauges that are in your 2000 M2 are larger in diameter then that of a S1.The only dash that will work for you is a X1 dash.And you can't make them fit because then they will not lock into place in the dash.I've done what you are trying to do. | ||

Ken, i shoulda done this last night (i'm blaming it on Heineken Special Dark...) the gauges in my S2 and S1W are the same outside diameter when looking down on them, each mounted in their respective dash, that is to say 3-5/8". i don't have a Cyclone close by to measure, but have no reason to doubt BadS1 when he says the M2 gauges are larger diameter. however, if you're planning on replacing them with S2 gauges, that issue would be moot, right? anyway, when this is all said and done, if you still want my old S1W dash (which, as near as i can tell, would accept S2 gauges), just say the word. ride to lean, FB edited by ferris on February 17, 2004 | ||

Blasterd what you need is a M2 or a X1 tach to make it work in a X1 dash.Like I said the S2 AND S1 guages are smaller around then your speedo on your bike.So you have two options buy a tach to fit a X1 dash then you can use your speedo to keep your mileage accurate.Or buy a S1 speedo and tach for ferris's dash,but then your mileage won't be and you still will have one problem.Your ignition is located on your dash if you use a S1 dash you will have to relocate your key to start your bike down where your horn is.If you buy the X1 dash you won't have that problem because its already there. | ||

can't you just drill out a hole for the ignition? or is there not any room? I don't see why this would be a problem. | ||

Another problem is that a S1 speedo is run off of a cable from the front wheel and an M2 has a sensor in the trans. When I put a tach on my M2 the parts were about 120 new from the dealer, but prices might have gone up since then. | ||
