Hahahaha. . . Mike just called . . . he's going to be delayed a bit. . . seems he's the owner of a NEW 2009 Ulysses and they are switching over all his gear to so can jet to Clem's this afternoon.

It's a sickness I tell ya . . .

Just met Dan and ate at Tom and Joe's which goes on the "MUST SEE" list if you are in Pennsylvania.

What a trip!

I agree with Chris, VERY homesick. There is nothing like riding through PA in the spring time dodging in and out of rainstorms. Usually when it gets so heavy and you pull off in a little town, you meet the nicest people...
Dan, you sure do put togther some sweet rides, hoping to catch up with you again!
Beautiful pics fellas...

I hope everyone had a great time visiting my "playground" this weekend.

It was a great time meeting Court, Rkc00, Crusty, Froggy, Oddsc, Johnnylunchbox and wife, Someday, Ulynut, Dano_12s, Peeping_jon and Dano's group of traveling compadre's. Sorry, If I missed anyone.

Hope you all enjoyed Clem's! I think I saw some going back for seconds!

I believe Court was is "suit drying mode" again, as he seemed to make the trip back to Gotham in record time! (and it wasn't even raining this trip thru central PA) Must have been the tailwind that Someday said he fought on the ride in.

Rkc00 (Mike) takes some fantastic photos and even picked himself up a new '09 Ulysses from Highland HD/B in Somerset.

Once again, it was great to meet you all again, and hope to do it again either next year of the "BBQ & Burger" ride or if you have a free weekend Memorial Day w/e, I host a ride in and around Altoona. You can find some more info HERE

Sorry to those that rode a little bit of it when we got caught behind the boom truck going thru some of the first "S" curves All in all, I think everyone had a great time.

Toona

That was great and what a fabulous road!

Made it from Clem's to the driveway in 3:48 . . . . 2 fuel stops at 4 minutes 16 seconds and 4 minutes and 37 seconds. Not up to my old standards in my country crossing days but not bad.

I'll get all the photos together and write an account of the event. Thanks for the hospitality and a great time.

Well due to my stupidity, lack of internet access last week we didn't see any Buells on our ride on Saturday.
My brother an I made it down to Clearfield on Saturday because I somehow missed the part about meeting at Clems on Saturday and that the big day at the pub was Sunday. O well we had a good ride and great weather. The roads were good for the most part and my bike enjoyed the first ride of the year. Between Saturday and Sunday I got close to 500 miles, not a bad start to the year for me. Maybe I will find my way to the Res Ride.

WHEWEEEE!

Now I feel back to normal. What a GREAT weekend! I had an incredible time. It was great meeting more Badwebbers, and meeting up again with the rest of the "cult". Great roads out there in the Pennsylvania hills. Lots of bugs too. There are so many bugs on my bike, you can actually SMELL them! I love it!

Thank you Toona for setting up the meeting place, and leading the ride back to Clearfield. Now I know how much I need to make it on Memorial Day weekend.

I will have my pics up tonight. Crusty, I love the throttle lock, I took over 200 pictures on the way home while riding.

Ulynut, whatever I hit, it dented both of the rims. : (

The BBQ was awesome, the burgers were great, but nothing beats the Waffle House I had last night : )

You know they always say the first "hit" for an addict is free....

You weren't even on "the good roads", you will want to move here after you ride them....not that Rt 144 was bad...

Look at this route : )

I'm home. I had to take my bike to the U-Hose-It car wash, because it was covered in dead bugs.
I had a great weekend. I really needed it. My head has been twisted up, and I've been wrestling with a number of Heavy Duty problems. I needed time to relax and sort out my thoughts. I got what I needed.
Friday morning, I went over to TSI H-D/Buell in Ellington, CT to Demo ride an 1125 CR.

While the factory Demo Fleet only had CRs with the Cafe bars, TSI had one with the higher bars, and they let me take it out.

After the ride, I rode to Oley, PA to the AMCA Meet and spent a few hours looking at machinery that was older than me (but much better looking!)

This Honda was the same as the bike I learned to ride on 40 years ago!

The Bronson bike was there

I've got about 40 more pictures from Oley, but I will continue the story. After Oley, I found a Motel near Hershey, PA and put up for the night.

First I would like to thank Dan for setting this up. Also would like to say that This group of riders that rode this weekend were great. Glad to see everybody at the hotel on Saturday night. I was not happy about missing Clems and the ride with the group but hope to ride with the group soon. Lets get that Dino run together.

I Just got home from the best weekend ride I have had in a long time. Put on 560 miles on the 06 Uly and 725 on the new 09 XB12X. I took the lincoln Highway (route 30) most of the way home today along the southern edge of PA. It was a nice ride.

Court,
Had a great ride out and the story's at dinner were great. Sorry I missed you on Saturday but I was a little preoccupied.

We will have to do it again.

Footnote:
Ever since I purchased the 06 Uly I have been thinking of trading in My Road Glide. It has been sitting in the garage not getting ridden. After making the decision to get the 09 Uly on Saturday I have finally made up my mine to do it. So I went back to the dealer in Pa this morning and am working out a deal on a new but old 06 Harley Street Rod. I have wanted one since they came out but I just could not get myself to loose the Road Glide. So Toona, I might be back in the area in a few weeks.

Court are you up for a ride???

damn Crusty, that little Honda is in pretty good shape, much better that the Bridgestone 60 I first had!

How did you like that 1125CR with the higher handlebars? To me it feels like a more up-right riding position and would be more comfortable for longer rides. Although I haven't ridden one yet, only set on it!

On Saturday, I got up early and hit the road; but my Low Beam headlight burned out. I continued on, and stopped in State College at an Auto Zone and bought some Hella bulbs that are a lot brighter than stock.

Cutting to the chase; here are some pictures from Clem's BBQ

Toona, that looks like another good run. But sometimes its more than the roads, its the company you have on those roads. This weekend had both, and I'm sure the Res Ride will bee the same, or better. I'm already working on making it out this time.

Froggy, maybe it was another one of my water bottles. I somehow missed Someday when I threw the first one at him.

Last installment...
Sunday morning, Greg from ADV Riders led us on a modified loop. He was a semi-local, and knew some really good roads! Wykoff Run was incredible! Anyway, we saw all kinds of wildlife, including several elk (one was right on the side of the road) and ripped through very twisty roads for about 4 1/2 hours.
Here's Dan at the elk viewing area.

All the elk that we saw were by the road; none were visible from the viewing area.

We made a short coffee stop in Renovo

We arrived at Denny's around 12:30 to a full parking lot

We went in, and waited a while for a table and finally gor our burgers

After we ate, we went our separate ways. I took the long way home, going north into New York and just kind of wandering in an easterly direction.

Guys and Sue,
Had a great time Saturday & Sunday! I spent Sunday night in Clearfield and got home to N-NJ this afternoon. I did a route Toona mentioned to Crusty in an earlier post only in the reverse direction. It went from Clearfield to Tunkhannock where my mom use to live. Man! he knows some GOOD roads! Tons of mosquitos along the many rivers that the route followed, I was covered. Almost got screwed when I did Hyner Run Rd. A few miles up I came to a "road closed" sign. I would have had to backtrack a lot of miles to return to the route so I did the AdvRider thing and went around the sign. A half mile up I came upon the work crew fixing guard rails. I asked one of the guys if I could proceed and he says "sure!" I had about 10 miles of Hyner Rd to myself...bliss! Thanks again to everybody for a real fine time!
Regards,
Don

Great weekend! It was nice to meet some new faces, and greet some familiar ones. The BBQ was great, and I am sorry I missed the burger, but had to meet a friend up in Renovo for lunch.

We just got home today and the grand total is probably about 8-900 miles, with about 50+ of those in dirt. Sue was a little freaked out at first, but now she loves dirt roads. Her R1150R handled it all with aplomb.

Froggy (aka Squirrel Killer), sorry I got you to the BBQ 10 minutes late.

Let's do this again next year.

I missed all of you guys! I got to Denny's at 2:30. The roads and weather were to nice! I only saw 2 Buells there, black Uly and a Yellow tuber. The place was clearing out when I got there.

Left my house at 7:30 am and didn't get back until 9:45. Figure a total of 3 hours not on the bike, 2 for eating and maybe a total of an hour for gas and breaks.

Stopped at Hyner park, great views! Didn't see any hang gliders but from the hight the park was at those guys are nuts! I stood back from the launch and it just looked like a complete drop off the end. It was actually about 2 feet but the hill just kept going down!

I rode with 2 on BMW and one HD Bagger. Great roads, lots of twisties. The BMW guys kept up with me, but they got about 15 more years of riding on me. lol

It was a great day, wish every one could be that good!
