So my Dad and I have ridden Buells since 2001, when we bought two M2 Cyclones so we didn't fight over the keys.

So last June at Americade my Dad had a bad lowside on his Buell that resulted in his bike being totalled and his leg and ankle broken. He has had a very long year of recovery. I am really proud of him; he's kept a positive attitude and never complained about his pain or lack of mobility. The only thing he complained about was that he wanted to ride. He started out on his little dual sport and managed to do well. He worked his way back up and on Friday I got a phone call about this:

So here's to my Dad. Many happy (and safe) miles.

Right on!

"he's kept a positive attitude and never complained about his pain or lack of mobility."

A positive attitude is HUGE when it comes to recovering.

Tell him congrats on the new ride!

I've often heard the expression "You da man!" and wondered who they were talking about. Turns out it's your dad.

Psycho -

I didn't realize you were Joel's son. He is a real good guy, and I got the same e-mail with about 15 pictures of that new bike from him the other day... I think he might be a little excited.

I was actually riding with him - in fact right in front of him, and saw it all in my mirror - when he went down. Holy cow, that sobers someone up. After talking to police and getting him loaded into the ambulance, I led the ride with his friends Angelo and Chet, and wife Ival all in tow. That was the most uncomfortable ride of my life.

Any time I heard from or about him, it has had something to do with getting back on the bike. His riding season last year was cut short, but thank god he'll have many more.

I'm psyched that he's back on the horse! Good for him.

Nice story and an even nicer selection!
I've had 1125cr envy since the first time I layed eyes on one. It's nice to see he kept it in the Buell family.
Congrats!

That is very cool!

Buells are amazing . . . . Dad's even more so. I have what amounts to a small Jim Bantz, Sr. shrine here. He showed lots of us a new window to see the world through.

Ride with your Dad every chance you get.

Court

P.S. - just don't try to keep up with him!

: )

Mark,

I can't thank you enough for helping out on that day. Obviously it had a happy ending and could have been worse, but you and Angelo have been good to my father and I really appreciate it.

Your email to him on the pros/cons of the 1125 really got him going. I saw him today on the Wing and he looked great...like he got his mojo back finally.

Hope to meet you in person one of these days.

Craig
