I love how it says "Read Instruction Manual" on the barrel. Is it like a Buell manual inside "Improper use of this item may result in injury or DEATH"? no shit! |

My first 357 was a Rugar Black Hawk with a 7 1/2 inch barrel single action, when you shot it the recoil went up and to the left for you to pull the hammer back for the next round. That thing was a cannon! |

Try the 454! Start with 45 Colt for practice, as not to produce a "flinch"! 454 Casull HURTS! |

A couple of years ago, I was at the local range plinkin' with one of my 22's...a guy came in with a new Casull that he had never fired before...with neoprene gloves, and a good application of rosin...a nice long show of getting his grip right...he pulled the trigger. The hammer ended up embedded in his hand between the thumb and forefinger...after some quick first aid, he cleaned the weapon up and put it back in the case...said that was the only round he was ever going to send down range with it. But I lust for the STAG.... (Message edited by fast1075 on April 28, 2009) |

Arent you required by law to own a stag or other AR15 variant if you are from the great state of Texas?

Gun shops are full of slightly used Large Bore revolvers with a partial box of ammo. Usually a 20rd box with 14 left. (Message edited by aesquire on April 28, 2009) |

I picked my .454 from a co-worker for CHEAP with a partial box of ammo and a Ruger holster. I also went to one of our weekly Gun shows here in Texas and saw the new wealth of big bore revolvers you spoke of. It made feel better to know I got the new SP101 and the slightly used Alaskan for the exact same price. |

Only two problems I have with my .454 is affording more ammo and the trigger guard nailing the second knuckle of the middle finger when shooting it one handed. |

Mr G. - I was thinking the same thing. If more safetycrats had their way it would probably say "Do not pull trigger while looking down the barrell." |

I recommend practicing your 454 with 45 Colt, and only using the 454 when you need it. Heavy recoil can lead to flinching (or pain). 45 Colt is cheaper too! I shoot a 44 mag Ruger on a regular basis, and always use light rounds for practice (4 1/2 in barrel Redhawk). One of my "bear stoppers" will destroy my confidence and start on the nerves next. Funny thing. I never notice the recoil in drills, or if needed in the bush. Love that adrenaline! |

Gunut75, Completely agree with the lesser loads for practice. While at the aforementioned gunshow this past weekend, I picked up some 45colt. 50 rounds for $24. I think it is time to start loading. I also picked up 500 rounds of .38spl JHP for $170. Hmmmm... those are getting expensive too. |

What flinch? I will load 5 rounds and a spent case, spin it, and close it without looking, then target shoot. Practice, practice, practice. Only gun I ever flinched on was a 6 pound 10 gage I had. |

I went to a local gun show this weekend to see if i could find the parts to repair my grandpa's Stevens 94F 12 ga. I couldn't find anyone with parts that weren't for 'tactical weapons'. Everything was a pistol grip this, folding that, high capacity something or other. The ammo was through the ROOF! $24 for a box of Blazer 115 grain 9mm FMJ ammo that I paid $8 for at WalMart a few days prior. I bought my dad an SKS for Christmas this year for $79.99 at a local gunshop in great condition, the same guns were $300 each! I'm considering a Mossberg 500 for the house and an AR15 just because I may not be able to buy one in the near future, but it was cheaper to buy them at gun shops that to go to a gunshow... |

Moss 500 is nice for the price. I put the wood back on mine. So much warmer than the black plastic. |
