Did some construction work a few years ago for Frito Lay and was amazed at the variety of chip flavors they were producing, things like pizza flavored doritos etc. Went looking for them once the plant was up and running and never saw them on the shelves.

Filet Mignon, not just "steak" flavored but Filet, mmmmmm gotta try those.

I know what you mean, as a traveller & a "foodie" I tend to sample stuff, potato chips (or crisps as we brits say) come in all sorts of flavours these days.
I bet those taste just the same as Steak or barbecue beef or oxo or bovril etc etc.
Prawn cocktail, taste the same as tomato ketchup flavour & bolognaise.
I reckon it's more a packaging exercise than anything else.

I LOVE OXO!!!

Being part brit I grew up on that stuff. Nothing better than a warm cup of brown MSG. : )

As for lays they offer a curry flavor in some markets, I haven't had it but I am curious.

Lays sells "natural" chips with sea salt..I can eat those without having reflux problems....(either they are baked, or they use a different oil) but "regular" Lays sends me into a turmoil for days...and I'm one of those guys that could sit and eat a family sized bag while watching a movie or such...

I used to work for Frito Lay back in the 80's. Was a pretty amazing company at least back then. They have a unique distribution system designed to make their products the freshest on the self.

They don't deliver to a grocery warehouse, they have their own employees managing the stock on the grocery shelves. Once or twice a week, there is a Frito Lay employee visiting each grocery store. Removing old stock and replenishing with fresh product.

Every get a bad bag of chips? Try sending the bag back to the company address on the package and see what happens. Heck send one in with a complaint even if you haven't. Pretty interesting company service.

Court, if you haven't already researched this company, you would probably find their production, distribution and customer service interesting. Probably the best in their industry.
