Well it seems the Obama family have a new canine companion. It's even made the news here.
The bit everyone here finds so hilarious though is that it's referred to as the "First Dog".
What else is "first"?
Does the White House gardener drive the "first lawnmower"?
Does the First Lady wear First Panties?
Do they take a dump on the First Crapper?
Where will it all end?

To be fair, the press has always referred to the President's dog as First Dog.

Bush's dogs even had their own government website.

Yep everything related to the president is "First" for living things, and "One" for vehicles. Air-force One, Marine One, Cadillac One. Not sure if panties would get a designation like that.

Thank you all for your comprehensive explanations.

So the white House gardener or as he's probably known, the "open space soil/air interface manager" drives Lawnboy One.

This leads me to think further on the subject, (sorry people I'm working nights this week & it gives me lots of time to ponder), if by some mischance a "one" designated thing is unserviceable, do they use number "Two" or "1A" or take the bus like the rest of us?

Air Force One is a designation only used when the president is on board. Same with Marine One. They use more "normal" callsigns when he's not on board.

IIRC, there are 2 or 3 jets (at least) set up identically that can 'become' AF1 if he gets on board. If he hopped a bus, it'd probably be "Greyhound One" as soon as he climbed in.

Now. Go get some coffee : )

Good idea, coffee, got another 500 miler tonight.

Your mind drifts though all sorts of weird crap, when your haulin down long dark roads.

I get unlimited talk time to landlines on my cell, so don't be surprised if I ring up for a chat. You're the only lot awake at the same time as me when I'm on nights.

For the geographically interested among you, tonight I'll be leaving Rennes, to go to Strasbourg, coming back tomorrow night. Yeah Saturday night on the road, it's a bitch, but there's a crisis, so they tell me.

Well, for god's sake if you're tired and piloting a vehicle down the road...be careful.

"Only if they're Monica Lewinsky's..."

I'm thinking BHO would have a lot better taste than WJC. I'm thinking more Alicia Keys, Halle Berry, or even Angelina Jolie. I just don't see him going the thick intern route.

Monica wasn't unattractive, it's just that the most powerful person in the world should have done better.

Thumper74: Exactly. For an average shmoe like me, she'd be plenty hot enough. The most powerful man in the western hemisphere ought to be pulling much better, though. Exhibit A: Nicolas Sarkozy. That guy knows how to wield power to his advantage.

Ah the lovely Carla, she can sing too!

As for "That Woman" why would you want to tap a cow that's going to blab about it to all & sundry? & dribbles on her dress as well!

From what I've seen your president's missus is quite tasty in her own right.
