I plan to get up early Sunday morning and ride the loop from Clearfield to St.Mary's to Renovo to Clearfield. Mapquest says it will take me 3 1/2 hours.

Ahhh, just got back from 215 miles of Buell corner carving bliss.

Pics in a little bit. Found some really odd items on my ride that I took pictures of.

My only miss step was that I forgot to run the route from your Super8 to Denny's BB Pub. I just pulled it up on a map, your very close to DBBP, maybe 1/2 mile

I did pass a drive in theater 5 miles away from Denny's that will be open that weekend. Just in case you haven't been to a good old fashioned drive in theater in a while.

Clem's BBQ

Pulled Pork!

Yogi welcomes you. I found "him" somewhere on Rt 53 between Snowshoe and Kylertown

That's a big rock in the middle of no where on Rt 144

Dan,
sounds very wicked! The more Buellers invade PA the better! Chris was telling me about Clem's, we may have to head up that way for a bite to eat in the future. Please take a ton of pics, I really enjoy bike pics especially with PA as the background.
Have fun,
Brian

I realize things are very liquid, but what kind of schedule is there this weekend?

Meeting at Clem's around 4:00 Saturday. Anyone want to do some riding before/after eating? Direct route back to the hotel or scenic route?

Looks like Crusty has a route planned out for Sunday morning, departure time unknown. I can actually make this ride, got Sunday off!

Court emailed me a route, Rt 6 across the top of PA from East Troy (coincidence I think not ; ) )to Galeton. The end of his route just happens to be the northern point of Rt 144. Which going south on 144 brings you about 10 miles from Clem's BBQ. Rt 144 is 2 lanes, mostly thru State/National parks, LOTS of curves, a few scenic overlooks-but the trees weren't very green yet.
I'm not sure when he wanted to run it? On the way to Clem's on Saturday afternoon or on the ride back to NYC Sunday. If it's on the way TO Clem's, I'll need an approximate meeting time at East Troy so I can make the run up. I'm thinkin' group photo at "East Troy" would be a neat picture for a future issue of Fuell! I've already been to Buells Corner, PA (see my profile pic)

I'm up for anything. Scenic route from Clem's to Clearfield sounds fun. Then...whatever!

I've got to give this some thought and do some schedule juggling. . . . my "intended" route is a dandy but comes out to be about 8 hours of saddle time. Figure in a couple fuel stops and some photos, constrained by making Clem's at 4:00pm and it looks like a real early departure. I'm tossing around some different scenarios.

Court,
If you would like a riding partner let me know. I am free from Friday afternoon on. I have not worked out a road plan yet. Was waiting to see who was leaving from this side of Pa. and possibly meet up and ride out together.

Need to do a fluid change and adjust the clutch and throttle cables and I will be ready for the weekend.

Mike:

I'm still not sure how this is going to shape up and I may have to divert along the way.

I'm GENERALLY looking at:

Lv Staten Island @ 0600 Saturday
Ar Porsche Event in PA at 0745
Lv Porsche Event @ 0830
Ar East Troy @ 11:30
Lv East Troy @ Noon
Ar Galeton 1330
Lv Galeton 1400
Ar BBQ 1630

If I start lagging more that expected (I've allowed about 30-45 at each stop) I'll just chart a course to "Ar BB@ @ 1600" and follow it.

Also, with the great weather heading in, thinking about just heading to Clearfield on Friday afternoon, doing a day trip in the area, perhaps to East Troy, doing the BBQ and heading back to NYC Saturday night.

Thoughts?

Not sure where I will end up on Sunday night, but will be traveling back on Monday to Long Island. Might find Johnnylunchbox on monday morning and ride back thru NY with him.

Court, if you arrive at Clearfield on Friday, call me and I can get you on some of my favorite rides and show you some of my father's Cushman scooters, Whizzer motorbike and other classic stuff.

If you are in to railroads, Altoona is the place. The railroaders museum is open 10-5 Mon-Friday by appt. until the end of the month. The Horseshoe Curve is open 11-4 M-F thru the end of the month. Both are open 7 days a week starting in May.

All else fails, for something odd, we could go find Gravity Hill

Don; you're most definitely welcome to join me on Sunday morning. As is anyone else who wants to ride along. This is all new territory for me, but it looks like a fun route on a map.
Incidentally; I'll be bringing about 20 O-rings (Caterpillar 8M4991)for throttle locks, if anybody wants one.

Froggy, check your email. I'll send you a GPS loop of our weekend. A friend of mine who is a mapsource Jedi came up with this. I will probably tweak it a bit, but it's a great start.

If anybody else wants the gps file PM and I'll email it to you.

So I can only get one day off this weekend. Now I'm thinking of just heading out Saturday to the BBQ & skipping the burger joint on Sunday.

I'd rather hang out with a small group of Buellers than the huge group that'll be there on Sunday.

Any thoughts?

Oddsc, I'm of the same sentiment. I might stop by the burger joint early, just so I can tell myself I stopped by, but I plan on heading out before the crowd.

The gathering at Clem's is my real motivation.

I'm looking at the Sat. itinerary & think I'll try to meet up with everyone in East Troy or Galeton.

There's a Ulysses PA in that neck of the woods too, but a little off-track.

Anyone willing to pm me a cell #.

thanks, Eric

Precisely what I am doing . . . I'm even looking, with the weather shaping up, at heading out there Friday night . . .eating a burger, spending the day exploring some of the gorgeous roads, eating BBQ Sat and heading back to NYC

Court,
I am in for friday night also if that is what you are doing. Have you been to the flight 93 crash site? Not far from my family in somerset. The property it crashed on is/was my cousins property. Hunted on the property as a kid.

Hmm, I've been there (Flight 93 memorial), maybe 2-3 years ago w/ Stingeroo. That's definitely do-able.
Very Moving/Solemn place. I've not been to the Pentagon or Ground Zero though.

Gravity Hill is near there as well.

Beautiful riding around Somerset, especially if you venture a little further sount into WV. A nice Buell dealer there too. My new Uly was acting funny and they did a TPS reset for me while I was on the road, and wouldn't accept a dime.

I'm kinda digging this . . . start riding at noon on Friday . . head straight to Clearfield. Go for a late night ride through the forests and explore. See some of the sights on Saturday, slop down some BBQ and meander back toward Gotham. Just looks like so many beautiful places to ride . .

Court, be careful of the multitudinous forest rats in that part of the world. It makes night riding that much more exciting.

I've learned, after years of late night country crossing, the key to late night riding. There is only one thing that works and that is SLOW. No amount of lights or horns will do.
