LONDON (Reuters) - Overweight people eat more than thin people and are more likely to travel by car, making excess body weight doubly bad for the environment, according to a study from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. "When it comes to food consumption, moving about in a heavy body is like driving around in a gas guzzler," and food production is a major source of greenhouse gases, researchers Phil Edwards and Ian Roberts wrote in their study, published in the International Journal of Epidemiology. "We need to be doing a lot more to reverse the global trend toward fatness, and recognize it as a key factor in the battle to reduce (carbon) emissions and slow climate change," the British scientists said. They estimated that each fat person is responsible for about one tonne of carbon dioxide emissions a year more on average than each thin person, adding up to an extra one billion tonnes of CO2 a year in a population of one billion overweight people. The European Union estimates each EU citizen accounts for 11 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions a year. | ||

By "climate change", I'm assuming they mean global warming? Apparently British scientists were too busy chasing tubby people in tiny cars too get the memo... that one about how climate change has almost nothing to do with humans. And it amazes me that they want to bitch about fat people in cars instead of talk about the rainforests. What ever happened to them? What, two decades ago the clearing of rainforests was going to be the death of us all. I don't remember anything about the 3rd world countries ever stopping. Did the eco-nuts finally give up on that one because it really wasn;t important, or because it was too far away to point a finger and play righteous? ~SM | ||

Huh. Last I checked, we had climate change every year. We call 'em "seasons". Nothing to get worked up about. So, if all us humans (and animals) stop breathing, there will be no more output of CO2. The plants will then die cause they need CO2 and then there will be no more 02 for the humans to breath. Is this the plan? Lets just kill off everything and then there will be no concerns about "climate change" We can leave Al Gore by himself to enjoy the planet. Has the world gone crazy????
