My wife Erika low-sided her XB9SL this afternoon. She hit some gravel mid-corner that was in the middle of our lane (it was in a spot that is prone to rock slides and there was some recent activity). There were also some bicyclists in the oncoming lane and a pickup truck that was crowding our lane was waiting pass them.

Thank goodness we both follow the ATGATT policy, her gear really saved her from some serious damage. She's got a banged up right knee, a sprained ankle, and little bit of road rash on her side. But otherwise she's ok.

Her bike suffered a fair amount of damage, but the frame puck and Dark Horse Moto slider helped immensely. The most extensive damage was to the lower fork tubes which got bent upon impact with a rock on the side of the road. The rest of the damage was all on the right side: the footpeg, the bar end mirror, the front blinker, the frame puck, and the Dark Horse Moto slider are all toast.

All in all, we both feel very fortunate that the damage to her and the bike were not much, much worse.

If anybody has any of the aforementioned parts laying around and wouldn't mind parting with them, please give me a jingle, it would be much appreciated.

Iam not using my rear pegs and mounts. Are the rear pegs the same as the mains?

Aubrey, Sorry to hear about the accident. Good to hear Erika is okay. Good on both of you for ATGATT - don't leave home w/o my Stich and Helds myself. : )

Hope she gets better soon and I'm glad she was wearing gear.

I just ordered a set of frame pucks to replace the left side that was damaged on Friday. You can have the right puck from the kit. I also have a set of Uly footpegs if you want them. If you PM me your address I will send them UPS as soon as the frame puck kit arrives.

Good news that she's doing OK - (ATGATT pays off for those of us who have lost an argument with gravity)

What year bike? Fork tube diameters are going to be different depending...

New lower tubes MIGHT not be too expensive - if you do the work yourself. Rebuild/reassembly is pretty easy IF you have a spring compressor tool (and a manual)

It is going to be a problem finding the lower tubes since they're usually bent in a wreck. Ebay forks seem to be selling for about $250-$350.

Thank you all for your concern and kind words.

Erika is pretty sore this morning, and had a rough nights sleep. We are still very grateful that she was properly geared up and came away relatively unscathed.

Johnny and Cadhopper, thank you so much for the parts offers. Slaughter, thanks for the advice, her bike is a 2004 XB9SL.

Thanks again everyone.

Sorry to hear about Erika's mishap. Glad she was wearing gear! Check out Pay It Forward. There may be parts there you can use.

I'm glad she's OK.

Would you mind listing the gear she was wearing?

Ulywife, thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to check it out.

Bill, she was wearing an HJC CL-15 helmet, Vanson Cobra leather jacket, Fieldsheer Sport leather pants, Alpinestars Stella leather gloves, and Oxtar Sunray boots.

I just ordered a set of frame pucks to replace the left side that was damaged on Friday. If that doesn't pan out let me know I've been meaning to replace my left side, but haven't cuz I didn't want to buy both. But I wouldn't mind as long as the other was going to a good cause. And More important I'm glad to hear Erika is going to be OK, that's the important part.

Nevrenuf, thank you for the kind words. Erika has been keeping track of this thread and it has really kept her spirits up : )

2008, I appreciate the offer. Everything is a go so far with the puck from Cadhopper. Thank you too for the kind words.

We went to the doctor yesterday and confirmed that there were no major injuries. Her knee does look remarkably similar to Cadhopper's pics from his "ride from hell" thread. Lots of bruising, but no torn ligaments or broken bones.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and generosity! It's kept me in good spirits!
I am amazed by how helpful everyone on BadWeb has been. Aubrey has said it's a race to see who heals faster, me or my XB9. Hopefully it will be a close race so I can jump back in the saddle once I am no longer a peg-leg
