Rog...How about something local. For the moment, both time and financial budgets won't permit a trip this year. |

CJ . . .nuthin stoppin you from the Gap . . . .PdC is a gas . . . . the way to finish the Crud run is, I think, to pick your riding partners carefully {wink} . . . I plan to make sure may riding buds' bikes are in great condition before leaving home (I'm already good enough at roadside repairs, so's grounder, no need to get even more proficient, yes?) |

Bomber...Check your May 17th date. That is a Monday, well at least in 2004 it is. LOL Additionally, Both Deal's Gap and PDC are during Summerfest and Peoria is during State Fair. Being a switch hitter (er, I mean Buell and Harley Guy) those are the two best Harley events besides the Milwaukee Rally. FYI, the Milwaukee Rally is July 29th through August 1st. Looks like that leaves the Slimey Crud Runs. |

Bill right you are on the 17 . . .. I've fixed the date, thanks sir as for state fairs and summerfest, we all got our rpiorties (smile) . . .. .Peoria is a High Holy Day for me . .. best racing this side of Valhalla . . . it's tough to schedule stuff, impossible to schedule stuff around all the activities that come up . . . .there will be other rides, for sure . . .. I just grabbed what was in the U-Brag newsletter and posted it . . . .. never fear, although last summer, as you and grounder have said, was light on seat time, this year is gonna be a whole lot more fun! |

May 2 Slimey Crud Run May 17 Road X Run June 23-26 Deal’s Gap Run June 27 Prairie Du Chien Run August 14-15 Peoria Run (Tentative) October 3 Slimey Crud Run Why is Peoria tentative??? i really want to go back, and i hate to say this, but i am going with or with out you, that was way to much fun last year I want to go to Deal's Gap Do you have a bazer or truck, or a way to tow your bike down, do you plan on camping or getting a hotel room/cabin, if you decide to go, make up your mind kinda quickly, the places fill up quick, because its during the honda hoot, for more info you can email me, or goto www.hondahoot.com Both Deal's Gap and PDC are during Summerfest and Peoria is during State Fair. Being a switch hitter (er, I mean Buell and Harley Guy) those are the two best Harley events besides the Milwaukee Rally. Are you serious, your now a harley guy, whats next arm length tat's, maybe you can ask Dyna if you can barrow a few of his do rags, BWAAAAAaaaaa harley guyg geezzsss Oh Bomber before i forget, we need to get some tickets to the flat tracks down at the hoot, and figure out where its going on, big question is how many, also have to figure out if you can get us a seniors discount, think they take AARP cards?? Rog...How about something local. For the moment, both time and financial budgets won't permit a trip this year. I will pay for your camp site, all you need to cover is gas and food, i think when Bomber and i went we spent less than either of us expected, and still had a fantastic time, all you need is a tent and air matress and your set Glitch that goes for you as well, all you need to do is bring your tent, if i remember right were allowed up to 6 tents per site, and i think im at 4, if they include the screen tent, let me know, other wise you can get a room like Bomber later Roger |

Bill has his own Doo Rags..besides I dont mine anymore since I cut just about all my hair off. The pic in the Chicago auto show thread was taken the day before I chopped it off again. No pony tails, no nothing. Wash & go....or who knows eventually it may just be "watch it go". |

Rog...have all the camping equipment and it packs on the X1 neatly with a weeks worth of clothes and food. My only way there is by bike as the Miata just doesn't cut it as a tow vehicle. Will see if I can squeeze it in if I still own the Buell. Email me some details. Figure my tattered old AARP card will give you two AARP cards to work with plus my AMA and AAA. My HOG or Your BRAG it doesn't make any difference as both cards are relatively useless if you eliminate the roadside assistance program. Only difference was HOG's RA program works on both my Wide Glide and X1, whereas BRAG couldn't confirm that they would cover the Harley. Duh??? So I dropped BRAG. Getting back to the local ride concept, I was thinking of SW Wisconsin a two to four day weekend, unless you can get off during the week. You would not believe the roads out there. |

Any fun roads to Peoria If you like corn, its the most fun you will ever have, otherwise its a straight shoot down, than a ride up the river back, i had a great time, cant wait to go back If all else fails, I got family all over those mountains that truley scary, very nice people, but we meet some guys hunting bears, man that was just out of my grasp, especially talking to them, but it was priceless to see the look on John's face when i did it, nice people, just a different way of life hope to see you to Glitch, and dont worry, it will work out, if more people come, we can get 2 camp sites, generally a lot of people say they want to come, but by the time it come to go, a lot drop off, kinda like over booking a flight, at least thats been my experience Roger |

Once again, grounder has demonstrated his complete and total accuracy in describing his experience . . . . if, however, one were willing to take a route other than the superslab, I can show you a couple of GREAT routes to Peoria . . .. it ain't the gap, it ain't Holy Hill, but the ride is alot more fun that the map, or, in this case, Roger, would have you believe think of the phrase "Rivers Make Great Roads," and you;ll have the gist of it the bear hunters were responsible for a number of deaths a few years ago, dumping oil in the apexes of some turns on the gap and the Skyway . . . the people, like people everywhere, are great . . . . . crushing poverty in the area . . . it's easy to forget how blessed we are until you see how others live |

just a different way of life So you can guess my culture shock when I moved down here to Atlanta. Differnt 'n ever way! crushing poverty in the area So you can guess why I moved to Atlanta. I've heard the stories about the oil in the apexes, and it truly makes me sad. But 99% of mountain folk are good people, and will go out of their way to help, even a stranger. It's the way I was raised, and it's how I'm raisin' my young'uns. It's the 1%er's ya gotta look out fer. |

Bomber...Taking the fun twistie route, how long down and back. Superslabs and straight farm roads either put me to sleep or make me extremely irritable. I would rather fly or drive the car if you get my drift. |

Let's see if I can predict the route: 1. Head west to the Mississippi, 2 hours. 2. Head north along the river to I-90, 2 hours. 3. Cross the river, 5 minutes allowing for on-ramps. 4. Head south along the river to Duluth, 3 hours. 5. Cross the river, 30 seconds short bridge. 6. Head southeast into IL and then east to Casa de Bomber, 3 hours. 7. Repeat in reverse on the way home. Now to see how close I was. |

Glitch, just so you know i was knocking, the people of that area, just different when you consider i have lived in the 3rd largest city in the US for a little over a decade, i can even see the Sears tower outside my front door, and i actually enjoyed the people i have run into, down there, BUT, to give you an idea of how far out of my league i was, there was a family of 3 guys, grampa, dad and Jr., all riding, and at different levels, the Jr. had passed Bomber and i the day earlier, at a very brisk pace on the cherahola, and he was moving, he was on a zx6r, and it seemed like he knew what he wqas doing, problem was, after talking to dad, and grampa, the kid was 14, no really, he was 14, i mean i could have thrown the kid over my shoulder, i didnt even think they made riding gear that small, but he was quick, now thats culture shock, especially when gramps said"better slow that boy down, or mama gona be pissed if something happens" Like i said, with no disrespect, different very different Hot-lanta, you can have it, have freinds there, hot as blazes, is all they tell me later Roger |

Roger, No ofence was taken. Things are very different up there. Whole different way of life. Ya know what's funny, the people here say I talk "country", and my friends from home say I've started talking like a yankee. Paw was right, nobody, and I mean nobody, wants to piss Mama off, I'm tellin' ya wut! Atlanta ain't too bad, it is hot though, but when it's hot as Georgia asphalt, yer tires are stickyernell! |
