I was at my local dealer this afternoon picking up a set of rear brake pads and managed to catch the owner and have a little chat.

While we were lamenting the discontinuation of the 'S' series he told me that he knew a turbo bike was in the works for release either this year or next.

Anyone have any further details or am I behind on the curve on this one?

From what I have gathered, a Turbo is not going to happen. The present v-twin motor is already putting out some decent hp & if it were to be pushed too much higher, reliabilty issues would again start to pop up & Buell certainly cant afford that, nor do they want that.

Besides that, a turbo almost always automatically increases your insurance rates. Quite a few folks here are paying a lot just for a stcok XB, can you imagine what a turbo would do to those rates?

Hmmm, sounds like you are fairly certain a T-Bike is out.

That's too bad. In the next two years for sure, and likely in the next 12 months I am going to buy another motorcycle for myself.

Either another ST bike or a full on sportbike. It is unfortuneate that Buell has nothing to offer me.

Oh Erik, why did you abandon us???

Sorry you feel that way.
You could always make your own turbo...

Glitch,

Buell doesn't make a replacement for my 'S' so in that respect Erik has abandoned me.

As for adding a turbo to my S, forget it, that bike stays "mostly" stock.

That leaves stacking a turbo onto one of the X bikes, which is more of a project then I am up for.

I have always been partial to supercharging. Lower air temps,no lag and less plumbing. I have seen clean and simple versions on big twins (drive off the cam cover). Any ideas on that?

I have seen the same units & while they may work, they are also big & bulky. I wonder what it does to the side to side weight distribution of the bike? Plus on a Buell because of the way the pipes are routed, I dont think there is anyway...or rather an easy way..to mount such a unit.

Just thought of something here....I wonder if this topic will lead into yet another discussion of those goofy electric turbo deals that the japanese have mounted on a few bikes? Ugly damn things.

I thought about an Aero charger, before I NALLINIZED my Cyclone.I found out that 1998,was the last year the set up would just bolt on,due to the added brace on the left lower side.I was told I could but the kit and custom make part of it to work on my bike,YA RIGHT!If it had worked I might have opted to go with the Turbo.I had a 1985 turboed 750 Kawasaki, and when the turbo came on-------hold on.

I hear ya Richieg150.

I was thinking about putting a turbo on my 02' M2 until I found out the same thing you did.

Is that added brace like the one we add to early tubers--i.e. Banke type??Cuz I have one on my S-2 with the Aerocharger and it fits no problem.
