On April 26, there is going to be an ADVrider get together at Denny's Beer Barrel in Clearfield, PA. Here's the link from ADVrider:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43 1073
When I posted about this before, Toona posted about a BBQ place that he knows that's supposed to be really good.
So what I'm thinking is, it'll take me all day Saturday, April 25th to ride out to Toona's neck of the woods. I could get there for dinner and a BS session. Hopefully there's a Motel close to the BBQ joint where I could put up for the night. Then, Sunday, I could spend the morning checking out the local roads then wind up at Denny's for Lunch. After Lunch, I could make my way slowly towards home on some of those neat looking secondary roads.
I love good BBQ and I love good Burgers and I love talking Motorcycles, especially Buells. We've got two and a half weeks to cobble up something. I know that a few people from Badweb were interested in the Burger run anybody else want to make a weekend out of it?

Crusty, State College is going to be the closest town to Clem's BBQ for hotels/motels. I don't know pricing though or if there is anything going on at Penn State that weekend. (affects hotel pricing/availability)

Another option would be Altoona. There's a bunch of hotels there ranging from $46.95 Motel6 to $150 Courtyards.

If I had a bigger house I'd put you up, but I don't, sorry.

Toona; If you can just give us an address for Clem's BBQ, or even just the name of the town it's in, and a time to meet there; we'll see who shows up. If it's just us two, then you get to eat with a cranky old fart who loves Buells. If more show up (and I'm sure they will, I know Froggy likes BBQ and getting together with other Buellers) we'll have a Typical Buell Gathering, and hopefully ride some interesting roads.

Sat April 25 for Clem's BBQ just outside of Port Matilda, PA (north of P.M. by a mile or so on business route 220), Sunday April 26 for Denny's Beer Barrel Pub in Clearfield, PA.

Don't expect a lot for creature comforts at Clem's. It's NOT a sit down kinda place. Actually you have to stand around some old wooden barrels to eat. Unless you can find a cinder block laying around to sit on. But the BBQ is WORTH IT!

Clem's will be relocating to an actual restaurant building sometime in May. The place they are taking over is a bar/grill so they will have regular seating then. Maybe in time for the Res Ride Memorial Day w/e.

I'm not sure on travel time from MA or NYC, but lets say 4:00 as a meeting time. Just to set some kind of time. It can be adjusted easily. I will PM Crusty & Court my cell number with my contact info.

I don't see a start time for Sunday at Denny's, but if you stay in/near Altoona I know of a great little diner in downtown Altoona that I'm sure you guys would enjoy. Their motto is "You can't pay for entertainment this good" and they live up to it most every time I'm there.http://www.tomandjoes.com

One of my best Buell stories of all time occurred in Altoona . . . as a result of running out of gas in Memphis, on the way from Asheville to Phoenix, and meeting Vince Gill's manager.

Remind me to tell you sometime. . . .

Tentatively in. We're going to take off work Monday and make it a 3 day weekend.

Ok. Clem's on Saturday. Around 1600.

Denny's on Sunday.

Then we're going to shoot on up to Wellsboro for the night. Wellsboro defines quaint with it's gas lit main street.

If anybody wants to ride back with us from Wellsboro on Monday, I know some great back roads back to the Hudson Valley.

Well, according to Google, it's 428 miles from my house to Clem's BBQ, so I don't think I'll be getting there much earlier than 4:00.

Looks like I'm in, barring any unforseen circumstances.

One thing to keep in mind it's a big game weekend at State College, so make sure you have lodging reservations. You may not be as successful just winging it. I'm looking into a couple mom & pop motels. PM em if you want more details.

Toona,
I'm returning to the fold after a 8 yr hiatus. After ATC and Battla2Win folded I lost my way. I found BadWeb just recently and am excited to hear about the gathering on the 26th. I already made motel reservations but found the pickings becoming scarce! If you haven't made reservations yet...get your ass in gear! I'm sooo glad the Buell faithful are still going strong! See you at Clem's on the 25th. I'll be on my '98S3T tuber!
Regards,
Don from NJ

JohnnyLB is right, the Penn State Blue/White football game is that Saturday @ 2:00. It's pretty much a spring tradition, heck anything PSU Football is a tradition. Hotels will get scarce in State College.

Thump, if you don't make it in for the burger run, are you going to come in with WolfRidgeRider for the Res Ride?

SpdrXB, sorry, I'm not much in to dirt bikes. I won't be at the shop when your pass thru. I'm leaving for a car show in Knoxville, TN Apr 29-May 3. Honestly, I've never been there. I know where it's at, just never eaten there.

Someday, WELCOME HOME! There's not a better place on the web for Buells than right here. Lookin' forward to meeting a lot of guys that I've chatted with on here, but never in person, other than Court and Crusty, who I've met.

To anyone else that may be coming in, if I can be of service with logistics etc, feel free to PM me. I'll do what I can. I'm trying to free up my Sunday schedule at church (getting someone to cover for me, I run the computer/projectors for songs and sermon notes) so I can ride Sunday as well. I should know for sure after tomorrow.

I got a room at the Super 8 in Clearfield. It's only 30 miles away from Clem's, according to Google, so it's close enough.
I am really looking forward to this ride. I need it bad.

That's a VERY ACCURATE statement . . . . for those of you new to Buell or perhaps too young to remember, Don is an old tim Bueller and an international racer with some impressive credentials.

This could be the coolest of the cool gatherings. BBQ, Burgers and Buells . . . .what more could you ask?

XB9er/Chris- Every time I go to Clem's I get a big ol' Pulled Pork just in your honor! Hey....someone's gotta do it!

FYI, Clem's is buying out Sammy's Smokehouse in Grazierville and relocating sometime mid/end of May.

Stay Safe, I'm sure before the end of summer you will be back and we'll make our fair share of Clem's runs.

Toona,
I have family in Somerset I could stay with. How much time would the ride down to Somerset take from Clems?
I assume I would take 219 down.
