Ruhh Roooh

http://www.motorcycledaily.com/01april09_bmw_f800G S_recall.htm

The BMW F800GS may be the best thing to happen to the middleweight Adventure Bike scene since make-it-yourself biofuel, but it's still built by humans and subject to recalls.

The U.S. DOT's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for the 2009 BMW F800GS. It appears BMW is recalling the units because the axle assembly "wall thickness may not have been manufactured according to specifications…if the wall thickness was not sufficient, the axle shaft could deform and could break". We aren't sure from the bulletin whether this references the front or rear axle.

BMW's press officer had no comment, other than to say that the total number of units affected (or which units are affected) has not yet been determined. Contact your dealer so he can keep you in the loop.

Them BMW boards will feel the wrath of BMWGrrrrrrrrrrrrllllll.

B-girl, just a couple of questions(on accountta I'm nosey)
Why do you come to a Buell board to show your pride and admiration for another brand? Is it because of the overwhelming love and comraderie you feel here?

Also, where in Fl is your home? I am in the Tampa Bay area. Stop by if you are ever in the area. I would like to meet you. Other than the Buell burr you have under your saddle, you sound like someone that would be interesting to talk with.

Recalls come and recalls go . . . . . but NOT KNOWING how many bikes are effected is a HUGE sign of internal problems.

And how . . . . help me out here . . . . do you NOT KNOW if it's the front axle or the rear axle?

Something JDLR.

Court: We don't know which axle it is because the press release doesn't specify which. It doesn't say BMW doesn't know. Come on, a little sanity here, please?? I do expect better from YOU at least. Sheesh.

Jaime:

The QUOTE (Which I have no idea if it is accurate) say:

quote:

BMW's press officer had no comment, other than to say that the total number of units affected (or which units are affected) has not yet been determined.

If a factory (that's who Press Officer's work for) does not know there is something seriously wrong. They either have a major management flaw (which I'd buy after waiting years as BMW continually ducked the fuel injection issues) or their Press Officer made a very poor choice and spoke to soon.

Based ONLY one what we read in this quote is well below what I'd expect from BMW.

"Front Axle Problem with BMW F800GS Prompts Recall"

This is what it says on the press release that I read.

Court:

YOUR quote, to which I was referring, was:

"And how . . . . help me out here . . . . do you NOT KNOW if it's the front axle or the rear axle? "

About seven posts back. Not how many units were affected but THAT comment.
