I have my bike in at the dealership getting a service and get an email from the service manager saying they have another Buell getting serviced that was built right before mine. Brothers reunited.

Thought I'd share.

I had that happen a few years ago when BluzM2 & I rode out to Thunder In The Mountains at Breckenridge,CO. Kim & Cheryl were some of the hosts and I had such a good time I came back out that next winter to go skiing.
After a couple days of hitting the slopes with my wife and daughter we met them for pizza. As the conversation went on Kim made a comment about growing up in Overland Park, KS. I said "Oh really, I did too!" As we compared notes it turned out that we lived just a couple of blocks from each other, went to the same Jr. high and he was just one year younger than me. Unfortunately being such a big school we didn't remember each other.
It always amazes me how often you have connections that turn up in general conversation.

Had a small world incident at work last night. I was part of a call the got a tec 9 off the street last night (my first gun of this type). While the subject was trying to shoot his cousin he gets his hand cut, severing a small artery. I end up going to the hospital with our subject. While a nurse is looking at his hand, I am making conversation with my subject and nurse. It turns out the daughter of the nurse, my subject and I all graduated from the same high school. It kinda help chill out my subject, he was pretty difficult untill that point, then he started to almost be friendly.

the daughter of the people i grew up next to in the pittsburgh area was on vacation in florida and while she was casually sitting at a bar, she struck up a conversation with a guy. the conversation went to talking about her brother and the terrible divorce that he was going through. as things would have it, the guy knew her sister in-law and after she had said something that she shouldn't have, it got back to the soon to be ex sister in-law and made the divorce a lot worse.

>>>Shawnee Mission West?

High School not far from Overland Park. I went to Topeka High School but had lots of pals at Kansas State University who were all from Overland Park, KS.

That's where I did about 80% of my business during the years I owned my company. At that time Johnson County, KS was the 3rd wealthiest county in the nation and a great place to do public works construction.

Gorgeous area.

Court-
That's where I would have gone if we hadn't moved to Iowa. I think Kim did.

It's fun to go back down there once in awhile. They were just building I-35 by there and we used to ride our bicycles out to the construction. There were also very few houses west of the highway.

Speaking of Topeka we had a speaker last week that was in the F5 Parkersburg, IA tornado. Afterwards we were talking and I mentioned that I grew up in Kansas and have never seen a tornado. She lived in Topeka when they were hit. I told her that we had gone over there to look at the damage.

Were you there then?

>>>>Were you there then?

Yes. It was June 8th, 1966. I was on our screened in porch. We were about a mile (in Westboro) from the Washburn University campus.

My friend, Steve Pierce was at the Dairy Queen at 17th & Medford (about a block from where buildings were flying) and tried to crawl in the serving window. He got jammed halfway in and had his butt pummeled with debris (no injuries, just funny).

I'd heard, all the time I was growing up, that a tornado sounded like "1,000 locomotives or jet engines at the same time". I always dismissed this as hyperbole; it's not.
