So I want to plan some trips this year for myself and the sewing machines i ride with(love that saying). We are from the central jersey area and love the twisties. I heard that the nest is sick a ride. Any other suggestions are welcome and the more the merrier.

Hawks nest is nice, if I remember right a few car commercials were filmed there.

BMW

I call it the "ribbon road" .. it's the one where you see the car popping in and out of view as it follows the twisty road.

New York has some of the best twisty roads in the country . . let's keep that quiet!

: )

I may run up to the nest tomorrow.

Hawks nest is pretty scenic but not too technical. Just look at google maps and find the squiggly lines you're usually going to find a fun road as long as it's not dirt (unless you have a Uly of course).

A nice loop from the Hawks Nest is to go north on 97 to 55, take 55 north/east which will take you to the lower tier of the catskill park and eventually loop back down to 209 which you can take back to your origin point. A slightly abbreviated version of this ride has you taking route 42 at Grahamsville back south which will lead back to 97 just a few miles north of the Hawks nest.

I'm looking forward to my daily commute from Newburgh to West Point - 9W south and 218 north, or maybe the other way around... I should be nice and stress-free by the time I get home each night.

Are you gonna be Cadre at Woo Poo? Years ago the Army carreer NCO offered me Woo Poo cadre if I reupped. I just couldn't do it I kinda wished I had though.I'd be collecting a pension right now instead of breaking my balls as a forklift mechanic.I look foward to riding with ya

I should be up that way by the middle of May, for three years to teach military history. I just bought a new toy today, which should be very nice for some of those roads up there. It has as many cylinders as my other two bikes combined! (Ok, so it's still only 3...)

There's one in Fort Montgomery and one just north of Poughkeepsie. I made sure there was one nearby before I committed. I don't want to run into another situation like I have here, where the nearest Buell dealer is 2+ hours away.

I'll definitely be bringing the KLX. I'm hoping to figure out a way to ride it on USMA property. When I was a cadet we got HMMWVs for the first time, and a friend of mine and I signed one out of the motor pool right after a hurricane came through in '99/'00. We drove that thing all around the training area, and there are a hell of a lot of good trails out there.

If you know other trails, I'm definitely up for it!

water be gone truck has been on some precarious job sites. you might be amazed where a cube-van can go without 4wd. of course it's also been sunk up to it's axles in the middle of nowhere with nobody else on the site, great times.
