Yeah, the Country Inn probably wont give us any rooms UNDER $100 a night.

La Quinta near Hwy 43/Moorland Rd has rooms for Under $50 IIRC. And it's a fairly new hotel. We'll be giving them a call. As well as the Best Western(just a hop skip and a jump from Hals as well).

Dana, I'm getting a bit tired of you trying to railroad Hals and Brew City's plans for the past 3 years now. Please, be patient. These things WONT happen over night. If you WANT to be a part of planning these things, give Bud a call at Hals and offer your help and suggestions.

Hals runs and plans a BUNCH of the events, and has spent a ton of money helping Buell look good for Homecoming for quite a few years.Last year alone they BOUGHT 12 bikes just to rent to out of town Buellers. We planned, and led all the routes to the various activities.

I'd just ask that maybe we try and give them a chance to plan some of this stuff and get the traffic back in to Hals for a bit of return on their investment.

You want GOOD Mexican?

Casa Del Rio in Waukesha while you're here.
http://www.foodspot.com/casadelrio/

And a couple of doors down is Jimmy's Grotto. The Home of the Ponzarotta. A glorified Calzone. But it's deep fried with the BEST home made italian sausage... Oh it's so bad for you, but it's the BEST!

The "deal" is to stay at East Troy Thursday and Friday night . . . head to the track early (gorgeous ride in Wisconsin) Saturday morning and stay in Elkhart Lake Saturday night.

It might, unless Buell or Hal's has something else planned, be kinda cool to patronize East Troy. If we do, I can give the City Manager a ring and make sure we get security for bikes and any help we need. . . really nice folks that have been good to Buell.

Steve I'm not rail roading anyone. Is this your event???This event belongs to Buell owners not just Hal's. It should be whoever wants to stand up and make a difference and make it memerable for all. I enjoy helping you and the rest out. You tell us your doing things for week's now. Who's doing it?? Hal's or your group. These are things you guys could do in short time. I'm offering help and your accusing me of other. Sounds to me like Court is on to something good so let it fly. Relax Steve..... but please tell me where I have railroaded you ounce. I had Erik play twice in two years. That I hope complemented the event.... to you its like I stole your Thunder or something. I'm offering nothing but help. I know my area like you know yours in the Hal's area. Thats all I can do. You make this out to be a competition.... its not. Just so you know... I had personal expenses into both Homecoming's last two years. Not only for my own enjoyment but also to make sure you your wife and everyone that came to see Erik play the last two year's to have a wonderful time. Thanks for bagging on me.

Ukes didn't ever say that they didn't want the Brag group. You are very misinformed. as well. Keith and I still speak from time to time. I'm not interested in a club. Brag died..... as whole.

Waukesha . . . I confess and haven't a clue as to why . . has some fabulous Mexican food. It's a chip shot from East Troy. We could do that or I can get a great Mexican buffet catered in East Troy with little/no problem.

Someone may (they're way late to the party if they are) be working on something but I kinda dig the idea of not having to go someplace, go 45 miles, do something, go 30 miles, do something and then ride 40 miles back to the room. Could be cool to take over East Troy for about 48 hours, go low key and make this years feature "The Tallest Tales Ever Told in a Parking Lot" . . . I can enlist some great storytellers. Ya wanna sit in the parking lot, do burnouts, whatever and have a couple beers, you have to drive nowhere . .

Hmmm.....I'm liking Court's idea there. Some of the best convo I had last year was in the hotel parking lot : ) Close to the factory and the folks who build these things? Even better! (And probably a better chance that some of 'em will "stop by" on their way home from work...maybe?)

How about some place with more shade than the factory has for the bench racing/tall
tale session? Just a suggestion.

Dana, I STRONGLY suggest you remove the post calling me a liar. I take huge offense to that. I'm nothing if not brutally honest. The personal attack on my character, while you hide behind your computer is disappointing at best.

The way it was told to me by Greg, Nancy, YOU, and Jason was that Ukes basically didn't want, nor have the time for the BRAG group any longer. Which is why Belle city was started. And we wont get in to WHY that club folded. Because I wont personally attack you, like you attempted to do to me.

but please tell me where I have railroaded you ounce.

I never said you railroaded ME. You have been trying to derail Hals and Brew City's plans the past three years in a row. The whole incident with Appleton three years ago is a perfect example in which you were trying to get involved with. You've even said it in a previous post that we should work together. I guess suggesting everyone try and get a room in Elkhart, and then suggesting getting a room in racine is your way of working with us?

Is this your event???
No. And I've never claimed nor acted as if it were. I'm trying to help out other Buellers, and Hals at the same time without a vested personal interest.

I understand you wanting this done overnight. But trying to deal with a corporation like Buell, and find out their plans ahead of time, isn't all that easy. Bud has been trying to get a hold of Buell PR people for the past week with no success. Some of them may actually be laid off currently. Or they may have been down in Daytona, and still recovering from a "Daytona Headache" : ) Trying to get a corporation to move quickly is like trying to turn a cargo ship. It just doesn't happen.

Hals and Brew City has helped plan these events, plan and lead rides(where do you think the "Adventure ride" route came from last year?) How do you think people made it to all the events last year? Are you prepared to plan and lead rides from your suggested hotels?

to you its like I stole your Thunder or something
Not at all. It's not my thunder to steal.

East Troy sounds find for me but I'm not staying there because it's only a 45 minute ride home for me and I'll save on the cost of the room. I know it's costly for you travelers but you only do it once a year and might be more fun to all stay in the same area this year.

No one mentioned Gus's drive-in either! Now that's a fun place to go for a burger and it's right in town!

The price for admission to Road America is $45.00 so I might just ride up there for the Sunday's races only since there will be a Open House at Ukes on Saturday. I'm still hoping that Bubba Blackwell is there again this year.

Great Lakes Dragway still hasn't listed their schedule for the races this year but I thought I heard it was going to be the Thursday 6/4. So I'm still up in the air about that night, but then again it's only a 25 minute ride there from where I live.

Gus's is EXCELLENT. We have a ride, "The Dave Ride" that ends there.

Oh yeah Steve those huge Calzone/Stromboli were awesome! We will have to do mexican
food at some point this year (especially if I'm feeling as good as I do right now!)

And for the record....It's MY homecoming...mine all mine ....(in Gollum voice) My precious....

>>>>No one mentioned Gus's drive-in either!

Good catch . . . I'd call Gus's an East Troy "must do". Might be fun, since we do our thing in the factory parking lot, to invite Buell employees to "our parking lot" and have shirts and goodies for them.

Could be cool!

Hehehehehehe . . . sure it's not Don Chase's Homecoming?

By the way . . . if Hal's, Uke's, Bob's, Ted's of the nice folks at HD have ANYTHING planned . . please ignore everything I've said. I don't want to bugger their plans but they are really late to their own party. I think, in deference to the "year after the 25th" and the general malaise of the economy we celebrate friendships, over a myriad of events, this year.

Best I, as a construction worker, can suggest.

Waukesha has great Mexican because it has one of the oldest Mexican American communitues in Wisconsin. There were Mexicans in Waukesha just about the same time my Irish ancestors arrived in Wisconsin.

But it's deep fried with the BEST home made italian sausage

That sounds great, like we used to say in West Virginia "It's not real food unless it's deep fried"

I called the hotel today and they are very booked up during that time frame. I am wondering if something else is going on during that time.

I am going to take a half day to visit the HD Museum. Hundreds of Buells in the parking lot of the HD Museum would be a Kodak moment.

In some ways I wish this was not held on the same weekend as the race. the family really enjoys going to the races both Saturday and Sunday but I would also love to attend the B.S. session if that happens. Same with the H-D museum if it was some other weekend that would be a great addition but with the races the weekend is packed already. I can't wait to meet the people from here and thank them in person for their help.

If anybody is interested in a Group Ride to the Museum, they do offer a group break on tickets. For 15 people or more, tickets are 12.00. If memory serves, its 18.00 for a single adult.

The world doesn't revolve around Hal's, Ukes, Racine H-D, or any other dealership for that matter. Get real people. The only reason a dealership gets involved is it brings money in the door. Nothing more, nothing less. Maybe Daytona H-D/Buell has more of a right to Homecoming. I see them footing a rather large bill/advertisement for Buell. Probably more than all the local dealers combined.
Does it really matter where the "Host Hotel" is? This isn't a huge metropolis that takes hours to get around.
Have fun this year. If this is the kind of attitude going around, I'm glad I'll be out of town when it happens.
