I got to take this home today. It's our GT1000 demo.

GT1000 loaner

I also got to take a Hypermotard around the neighborhood yesterday.

The GT is nice. They guys were making fun of me because I like it. They think it's hideous. At it's heart is the same engine and basic chassis of the other Sport Classics so I can easily overlook it's minor cosmetic alterations. The shocks and forks can always be upgraded later, too. It's a fun bike to ride as is, with a big, comfy seat and the typical old-school standard sit-up-and beg riding position that feels like one could easily ride all day. Despite the comfort I'd much prefer the feel of a set of good ol' clubmans.

The Hyper is a blast. It wheelies effortlessly and even violently in 1st gear. 2nd gear wheelies were more controllable for me. I was told it lofts it pretty good in 3rd, too...but wasn't so brave. Alas, I found it frustrating to be on a bike so dirtbike-like in feel with essentially no such ability.

The power delivery of both, though brisk, smooth, and entertaining (especially in the case of the Hyper) left me missing the lumpy, hard-hitting, big flywheel torque rush of my rat-fighter S1. I'm sure my wife would prefer these motors as she feels my Buell is too "touchy" on the throttle.

Although the GT1000 got me more looks than anything I've yet to ride, I am feeling some separation anxiety from my old steed...having abandoned her for this mistress cougar outside my door.

The Hyper pretty much cemented why my next bike will be a true supermotard; something that'll take to the dirt or bomb urban jumps effortlessly.

My new job rocks. My general manager is cool, my boss is awesome, and the atmosphere is much better. The off season kinda drags on and the busy season is a bit overwhelming. Overall I'm making the same money but having a much better time at it.

These are my riding boots.

Cityxslicker, you get to ride those creations?
I like how that 2nd bike is coming together.

oh yeah, wouldnt be much fun to build em, if I didnt get to ride em.
Its nice to have the budget and the flexibility to do some custom Sportsters. And I get to putt them around town and show them off until they sell.
after the street tracker is done, then a cafe project is in the works.
Sportsters... for me they are the H-D bike.

nice boots rick. i see they come standard with a munchkin. are they hard to train.

on the serious side, that's the one thing nice about the "multiline stores" they usually carry the better riding gear.

oh yea, good looking kid you got there.

Rick, I just landed at a BMW/Ducati/Triumph dealer in Ft Myers after 3 yrs at HD/Buell. I haven't gotten to ride the GT 1000 yet but looks cool. Have you seen the version with the bullet fairing & clip-ons?

Perks of the job...... I was "forced" to take home an 1125R for three months and ride it everyday! Then they forced me to return it and take a 2009 Road King in its place. Whoa's me!

That munchkin is actually a real easy monkey to train. Seems like he's been into aircraft, motorcycles, and guns (so far just Nerf) since birth. He also does some gymnastics and likes to do stunts like jumping off the tops of couches and tables . I guess it's in the genes.

Thanks Nevrenuf.

Bbbob, we had a yellow 1000S...gorgeous bike. This GT1000 is the last Sport Classic we have left right now.

How do you like it at the new dealer?

CityX, I've always envisioned doing a Sporty like this:

Alas, I can't justify owning such a bike and the wife doesn't like how top-heavy the XL's feel.
