the daughter and i have gotten out the Z50R a few times this winter. i just loaded a bunch of pics off the camera from the last few months
so thought i'd post a few.

this is the first winter she has tried to ride in the snow. it went fairly well. just a few spills!! good thing we were trying out the new helmet
and goggles i got her for christmas. she even picked the helmet out. i thought she'd want some pink thing or something but she spotted this
pearl white and pinstripped one with skulls on it and thought it was awesome! good choice!!

BIFF!!!!

and a little help from the gf's son to get it back on its wheels

and one more wipeout for good measure, lol

it was a little nicer the next time we went out.

her hands were getting cold in her gloves so she wore mine. they are just a LITTLE to big for her but atleast her hands were warm.

had to take a few pics of my wolfie Arctic also. its been awhile and i dont have to many good pics of him.

i think he enjoyed the day also.

That's some great stuff. Enjoy her while you can - they grow up faster than you can imagine. When you're old and decrepit, family is what will warm your heart.

Now thats way cool...IT'S GREAT to teach your daughter to ride : )...and if you take good care of the Z-50...you can use it to teach your grandkids to ride...I have an '83 model that has never needed anything but normal maintenance...and it still cranks first kick.

And that is a beautiful dog!!! It reminds me very much of a dog I had as a child.

the part i think is pretty cool is this little 85 Z50 is the exact bike i learned to ride on. i never sold it but somehow it started getting passed through the cousins. one in particular was really hard on it and banged a few things up. but it still keeps chugging away. when i think back to the way i rode it and some of the things i put it through i cant believe it even survived me!

she has been riding for the last couple years. she has gotten pretty good. some of the areas we ride in have hills that are difficult for a decent rider to make it up. she usually makes it without a wipeout. when i take the 4wheeler up the path we use i have to stand up and lean as far over the front wheels as i can to keep it on the ground.

careful, that is how it all started for me 35 years ago. I have been hooked ever since, and never grew out of riding in the field... or the snow.
hooligan in training ; )

Great pics No_rice. It's so great to see the children enjoying the 50's as much as we adults do! Love the pics of the dog, beautiful.

z50 is definitely one of the greatest motorcycles of all time! think of how many of us learned to ride on one. my first ride was on an older z50, a yellow one with no rear suspension. 32 years later i can still remember that bike in vivid detail.

That is way cool! I wish I would have learned at that age. Arctic is one good looking dog.

It takes major acts of stupidity to kill a Z-50 engine...the longest running one I know of is a 1969 model that is "mostly" original...it has had the kickstart shaft and lever replaced once and a top end job/timing chain/tensioner kit...the seat redone and an aftermarket exhaust because the original rusted out...

i still have my '79...it currently isn't shifting, but it put in many years of HARD abuse. this thing started it all for me, at the tender age of 5, almost 25 years ago.

Hey No Rice, Keep her riding!! Before you know it she will be better than you. My kid can kick my ass on the dirt!

I did some digging and found this 14 year old clip of my older son and myself doing a wheelie on our old z50:

Now this is from 2 years ago, obviously on a different bike:

The picture does not do the jump any justice (notice what his left hand is doing?)
