I thought I'd post this in quickboard since, even though it's for a tuber, their materials are on just about any seat they make.

I have an S1W with the stock "euro" solo tail. Love it, but even with my light weight I can feel the bodywork pushing up on the edges, through the seat.

We have an S1 in for service at the moment that has a Corbin seat on it. I took a seat and no ridges pushing through. I also have a Corbin on my S2 and love it (on there when I bought it). I'd been debating getting one on the S1W for a while, but wanted to do the "sit test" before I coughed up the $.

My question is this. I have a good bit of CF trim on the S1W - the stock rear fender, the rear head / frame heat shield, the race air cleaner...and I like the CF leather they have for the seats. Has anyone lived with it for a lot of miles? Does it hold up well, or does it like to split along the "weave"? I can't decide if I want to go with CF seat and black leather sides/tail, or black leather seat and CF sides/tail. Either way will be white welt (it's a white/white/white S1W). I'm not concerned about grippiness on the seat - it's small enough I wear it anyway instead of sitting on it. LOL. I just don't want to put the CF look stuff in the wrong place and have it start splitting on me.

Any feedback is appreciated!

The CF 'weave' on the 1 I had on the X1 got 'roughed up' over the miles, but not too terribly, but never showed signs of wanting to split. I think you could minimize that with regularly taking care of the leather, instead of letting it get rained on, rode hard & put away wet like I did.

I'd like to know of a source of the material they use.
Not only Corbin but others too.
I have a seat I'm redoing for my S2 (modified bodywork), I need to do a pretty custom seat. I'm also going to put in a gel pad..
I like the "weave" material on our S2 Corbin seat, it's not leather but fo-leather.
Pretty durable stuff and just enough grip without grabbing too much when you are moving around on the seat.

I rode Newfies S1 with a Corbin on it, at a guess I'd say it's either Oak or Beech, that thing was like riding a plank!

Joe, I have a Corbin "c/f" weave seat on my Busa, it has held up really well. Looks good and feels the same, but It's only 2 1/2 years old, 20K miles.

Newfie did a 1500 mile day on that Oak seat on his ride to the 20th Anniversary! Talk about an Iron Butt ride...

Did you know that there is a Society for the Preservation of Wooden Toilet seats?
It's called the Birch John Society.
(I've been wanting to use that joke for decades)

I put a Corbin on the ole Blast..it was hard as a rock when new...after 4K+ miles it has started to break in some...but I will tell you it is vastly better than either of the stock seats...my butt would go numb after 40 or 50 miles with the stockers....now 200+ mile runs are enjoyable and you can move around on it when needed..

Oh, I know about the comfort factor - I have a Corbin on my S2 and LOVE it. My only question was, how long / well does the 'carbon fiber' look stuff hold up to use, abuse, and everyday life. I like the look...but if it's gonna split like some 'biggest loser' contestant's spandex...I'll just get regular leather.

Joe, like I said, I rode it hard & put it away wet. As a result, the texture got 'roughed up' but showed NO SIGNS of impending splits/cracking/etc.

If you take care of the seat, unlike I did, I don't think you'll have any problems with it.

Just my opinion & YMMV.

The only thing I will add....If you are a type "A" personality....it may be very hard on you to buy from Corbin...(I am, it was)...it took a Looooooooong time for my seat build...their customer service and communication is somewhat lacking....it's not so much how long it took (was told 3 weeks when I ordered it, but it took 5 weeks)...it was that when I called them, I was told 3 times that "it is in production and will be shipped tomorrow"...and it kind of whiffed me off because they already had my money...but on the other hand, the product is (at least in my case) top notch.

your s1 has a seat im jealous mine has a rather small concrete slab that is kinda shaped like a seat but i could be mistaken.but who cares you ass never touches it in the twisties any way
