Well Discovery Channel has done it again. They will now have a show called Southern Choppers.
Don't get me wrong it is great to see all this stuff about bikes on TV. It is also Great that the normal Public can see about "our" world and the cool things about it. But do you think that some of the mystery and uniqueness of "our" hobby an sport are being not so much shared but exploited?

If its called Southern Choppers, isn't that being Northernist? There's probably a legal case here, a good lawyer could get you millions for mental trauma suffered because you live in the north.

Every time I watch "American Choppers" or Discovery Channel's coverage of Jesse James West Coast Choppers I have to laugh. They always rave about how great those thing go around corners! You do have to admire the actual craftsmanship though.

BLINGBLING! NOISEY! STEREOTYPING! Ed Roth, Peter Fonda wannabe closet riders? The 'James' gang, dysfunctional OCC groupies? Typical Discovery mental pablum?

Build a $60k plus Buell and they will come, maybe.

Well if JJ has got the left coast, OCC has the right coast. The lower coast will probably be covered by Billy Lane. That leaves the upper coast....might get covered by a shop in say Mlps.

Soon we ought to have a channel called "Discovery Scoots"

Short of James' attitude, Paul sr.and jr. being disfunctional with some Mikey comic relief, the best part was in the "Biker Build Off" when Billy Lanes' arse was on fire.

It's amazing to listen to people who don't ride and watch Discovery Channel, you would think nobody built choppers until they were covered on tv. That and there are no shops other than the ones on Discovery Channel.

WTF is up with all the CHOPPERS

It's because people that want bikes on tv are staved for coverage. When two wheels make it to tv we all watch. They get good ratings, and they think it's because they made a show about choppers. They haven't figured out that it's about motorcycles, any motorcycles. And then of course you've got all the sheeple that watch because they wanna see the newest OCC and WCC fashions...

My girl loves Buells, she robs my shirts, especially the Team Elves gear. When walking around campus, she will see people with HD, OCC, WCC shirts on, of course she is the innocent type, so she ask them what kind of bike they have. About 98% of the people do not a bike, not even the kind you pedal! She was curious as to where everyone got their shirts, hats, etc., and it turns out that most malls and tourist attractions, such as Ocean City, MD, sell them.
I guess the masses here are trying to be unique or badass, hell I am waiting to catch someone with an OCC tat that does not even own a bike!

Hey, I resemble that remark! Laughed all summer long as I watched raids on all the t-shirt shops in Ocean City this summer. Number 1 bootleg was West Coast Choppers followed by OCC. I refused to buy them, both because they were boots, and because everyone was wearing them, they lost their appeal. Guess what shirts I received from my mother-in-law and other family members for the holidays?

Oc,
I hope the past season was good for the biz.

Sorry about the disappearing act. They kind of hit us hard and fast with a close up the shop order.

The bright side of it is I got to do some riding in central pa. afterwards. Hit me again a couple months later and moved to arkansas. All this moving around.....got settled in and they temp me out to Louisville for a couple months. Will be back home(arkansas) for the beginning of riding season.

Hey OC, I proudly wear your bike shop shirt still!! That and the one from the Red-eyed Frog!
I am hoping to make it down again, this time with mine and Alex's bikes, you can show us some of those nice roads you told us about. I will be sure to stop by your shop again. Send me an E-mail next time you are up in the Central PA area.

when was the last time you saw JJ actually in there building the bike and not giving orders and leaving. Kinda like Boyds new program, american rodder. I don't think he touched the car until it was done.

Hey...

I have an idea!!!

How about a reality TV based program that follows the adventures (or should I say mis-adventures) of a local BRAG club or a 3%'er Buell group... changing every month or so!

NOW THAT WOULD BE QUALITY TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't quality TV an oxymoron?

Loki,
Was bummed to hear you moved once again. But I don't think you'll miss Harrington too much.

Stingaroo,
Still hoping to get together and ride with you and Alex sometime. Think the Fall Brag Ride in Tenn. might be a good possibility. But we don't have to wait that long if something else can be arranged.

OCBueller,
We will ride for sure this summer.

I get a whole lot of 'What the hell is Ocean City MD' when ever I wear that shirt, but it's cool as hell (Iowa is a long way from the coast)
