137 in a 93 Civic? I call bull on that one. He must of had a Honda decal on his Camaro.

I had a 93 civic DL hatch. Totally stock, used for work commute.

Didn't have a lot of power, but it was reeeaaally light.

It would do over 100 no problem.

I'm sure, with a few small mods, or a higher model with more stock power, could get to 140 fairly easy.

It may take a minute to get there but a stock 92 civic will do over 120.

Don't ask how I know.

I was watching one of the Speed Channel programs called Tuners and they get the Honda Civic with mods to over 600 HP and they have the power to blow the doors off the Camaro.

You can get a Buell to 600hp if you dump enough money into it.

I am trying to dig up more info on this car, according to the gear ratio calculator I found he would be banging off the rev limiter at 135mph assuming the thing actually had the power to get up there.

I saw a CRX go high 11's at Bradenton one cool and dry evening last November...the density altitude was around -150 feet...and if it was boosted, it was very cleverly hidden...I looked at the engine very closely, expecting to find a nitrous system since it was not turbo charged... I will say the young man that drove it said it had "quite a bit of money" invested...and I will say it turned some VERY high RPM...

Motor swapping is common, that '93 most likely had a newer Integra motor.

I'm not a fan of ricers, but love Honda's reliability as an a to b type of car.

I got spanked by an early 90 hatchback with an Integra motor/trans on my Sportster 1200 and the Buell XB12S. Killer power to weight ratio. We ent from a roll and a dig, annialated both times. He wouldn't ever at the track though for real times or in the twisties. I also got spanked by a Ford F150, but that's another story

Was right down the road from us Hudson valley guys. The area in question is coming off a 2700 ft elevation, straight, level and leads to a 5 mile straight away. No BS it was an accurate reading

Wow I think that is exactly where I got my first and only speeding ticket (car) back in '93, wife and i were coming back from PA on the downhill. Great speed trap, I smiled and said "no contest"!

Thats exactly the spot. You can build major speed coming off the mountain from Port Jervis to Middletown. He was trapped at exit 2 which is about a mile into the straightaway.

Think of the firework display if they hit a deer at that speed!
Hamburger helper from horizon to horizon!

They must have an integra motor since civics hit the redline at 125 or so.
My 1991 CRX si used to be able to bounce the rev limiter.

Perhaps some minor engine mods in conjunction with the removal of the rev limiter?
I would think it is nearly inpossible to alter the final drive ratio on a civic.

I want to hear what the hell the monkey was running!

My 91 integra will run a buck thirty and s l o w l y top out. Not exactly stock though. Gearing certainly limits the top speed on these cars.

My 87 civic DX is really humming at 70mph, but I'm guessing the 1.5L wouldn't go much faster anyway. (1.5L was the LARGER of the two DX engines in 87)

40mpg has it's sacrifices..

+1

A civic with a vtech integra motor is surprisingly spritely

<-----arrested in South Carolina for 106 in 60, but that was after I saw him and lifted my foot. I was at about 120-130 before he zpped me. All stock, 05 Focus ZX3. So I got arrested for speeding, think it had to do with my Maryland tags/license/regs.

My cousin has an Integra with an h22 swap with ITB's, thing SCREAMS when it gets up there in rpms.
