thats pretty much my question. if you could ride any tack in the US which one would it be?

i have been thinking for a couple years, that it would be great to plan a trip somewhere in the US specifically for a weekend track day. a trip to my holy grail of tracks. a track that odds are i will never get to ride again or atleast to many times because its a big undertaking for me to travel across the US just to go to a track day.

thing is, i dont know what track i would want it to be. i have always wanted to make a couple laps around laguna seca simply because of the cork screw, but i cant base a whole decision on one spot of a course. and i dont know enough about to many tracks to have an educated decision about it.

now i say all of this knowing it is something i would really like to do, but also knowing that i have no idea how im going to accomplish it. as of right now there is no possiable way i could afford to. that doesnt mean i cant try to figure it out for when i can though!!!!!

i have only been on 3 tracks, road america, black hawk, and mid america.

any recommendations/info? heck, even pics of the out lay of the particular track would be great.

I would say Barber... from the pics I've seen and getting to go to the museum.... it just looks like the total package

I'm pretty sure that would be my choice... But that cork screw at Laguna sure looks like fun...

I REALLY liked Barber. I haven't ridden any other real tracks, though.

I'd like to ride the new track in KY.

Barber is really beautiful, the track, grounds, facilities, oh yeah and that lil ol'
motorsickle mewseeum.

Seriously, I would drive down to Birmingham for either the track or the Museum,
both together? No brainer.

I've been to a lot of tracks, from large to small and Barber is my favorite.

Do you have regional preferences?

Nor CA has Thunderhill. Turns 4/5/6 are their own version of the corkscrew. Track takes a little longer to learn but it is FUN.

Face it, Laguna is TOO FREAKING Expensive and their noise restrictions mean that some STOCK pipes don't work and it's a $1000 per lap fine after you've been black-flagged.

Miller is supposed to be totally GREAT - I just have never ridden Miller.

I get it Danny, I'd like to get out on the banking at Daytona, but I don't see that in
my future.

I have heard good things about Miller too, but it is a more open track design that won't
really favor our Buells, plus it's second hand knowledge. It was designed by the same
guy that designed Barber IIRC.

Bonneville and Miller while I'm out there because my XB might get bored at Bonneville.

For a destination/vacation I don't think you can do any better than Barber. I lived in Alabama before the track was built but was fortunate enough to visit his museum when it was in downtown Birmingham. You won't find a more impressive collection of bikes. You might also be able to catch a track day at Talladega on a preceding or following weekend.
I have ridden at Road America, Mid America Motorplex, Motorsport Park Hastings and Laguna Seca. I would rank RA first, followed by Laguna Seca. The two tracks in Nebraska are closest to me but neither offer the challenge or atmosphere of RA.
From where you and I live, I guess I would pick RA for a long weekend and Barber for a longer vacation.
Have fun wherever you go.

I've ridden and/or raced at VIR North and South; Barber; Carolina Motorsports Park; and Roebling Road.

Barber is a must do although the track itself has some weird sections and is not my favorite. That said, I'd make the trip again. It has a lot to offer.

VIR North is an awesome facility and a really great motorcycle track.

Roebling Road is a fantastic track for bikes but the facility is not great. Smooth and flowing goodness on a bike.

CMP is a very nice regional track but it eats tires.

I guess Barber is the nicest I've been to, but not ridden at. The landscalping costs they charge if you dig up the grass sort of nag the back of my mind, pushing it down the list.

Laguna would be great, but in all honesty the corkscrew would probably scare the heck out of me.

I guess Summit Point is my favorite. It's got fast corners, slow corners, elevation changes, and a nice long straight to test one's "turn 1" pucker factor. Yes, its bumpy & grungy, but sometimes I'm more comfortable there then the spit & polish of Barber.

Tracks that I have not ridden, but would like to:

1. Barber
2. Laguna Seca
3. Indy (Moto GP configuration)
4. Mid-Ohio
5. Road Atlanta

Tracks that I have ridden that others would enjoy:

1. VIR: North, South, and Patriot; you can't go wrong. The place is like a country club and the pavement is beautiful.

2. NJMP: Lightning and Thunderbolt are great. While the whole complex is not complete, it will be like VIR with less elevation changes.

3. Summit Point Main: The key here is getting to the track immediately after a re-pave (before the cars). As of last fall, I won't go again until the course is fixed. When the pavement is good, this a great track.

Miller is very nice. Hoping to get back there soon.

Will be checking out the new High Plains raceway in April

My goal is to ride every race track in the USA. Need to win the lottery, tho, in order to do that. Wishful thinking.

I would like to ride Daytona, Miller, Barber and Laguna Seca. But as far as out of the U.S. I would really like to ride the new track in
Portuguse. The WSBk and world supersport race in 08 was awesome.

I have ridden on Blackhawk Farms, Road America (the fast "parade" laps in 2008) and JenningsGp. I have ridden passenger in a friend's SCCA car at Summit Point. Be the end of summer I will have also ridden at Roebling Road and Road Atlanta.

Laguna Seca and Indy would probably be fun, but my dream track would be Daytona. I know it's a not a "Buell" track, but the history and atmosphere associated with Daytona intrigues me. How many people will ever get to say they took a spin (in my case race) on a Buell at Daytona??

These are just my thoughts, yours may vary.

Miller is a dream, and it has four different configurations. The Buell can be lots of fun on any of them.

Ridden and in order of preference:
Barber
Road America
Blackhawk
Autobahn (Joliett, IL)
Hallet (Jennings, OK)
GIR (St Louis)

Been to Monoco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 and whatever the track is called in Memphis.

Would love to ride Isle of Mann, but really as along as it's a closed course I'll give it a shot!

I live in Ohio, and I was a huge fan of CART up until the IRL split. The racing was always exciting IMO. My favorite races were at Road America, Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport, and Mid Ohio. I never dreamed that I might one day ride my own sportbike (XB12SS) as fast as I wanted around two of those courses. Thanks to Buell's Inside Pass, I did. Road America was my favorite by a lot. Here's my wish list:
1) The big Miller course
2) Laguna
3) New Jersey (looked pretty sweet on Moto ST broadcast!)
4) Red Budd MX
5) A crushed limestone half mile on a XR750
Reality list:
1) See you at Bluegrass!

Theres a photo ad about the Dunlop tire test track, I dont know where it is , but I would ride the hell out of it.
Its a good mix of dirt & pavement with some nice transitional hoopdees.

That is the place to have "Closed course, Professional Rider" added to your resume.
