I still wish they had some summer events. They front and back loaded the year especially heavy in the fall. There are 3 events in 4 weeks. Maybe it's just me, but that just sounds like poor planning.

Sorry to come off like I'm pissed. But I would love to attend a couple of BRAG events outside of Wisconsin this year. Unfortunately, my work schedule doesn't allow for me to take time out of work after September 1.

On a side note, you can't really call Daytona and Laguna "BRAG" events just because they're having a "hospitality tent" and "demo rides".

See you (unofficially) at the Homecoming :)

"BRAG at Laguna Seca July 9th-11th "

Dennis,
Here is your event. You could probably coordinate it with a visit to the A.S.B.N. meeting around then and possibly link up with the SPLASH run up in Washington. One big bike loop.

Dennis-
Why not attend 'Newfie's Newfoundland Adventure' we are setting up for late July?

After looking at your profile what do you think about the Packers & Chiefs in the Superbowl?

And from the SPLASH 2004 thread:
"this years SPLASH Event July 16th, 17th and 18th"

So there you go Dennis, your vacation is all planned out now. Finish building the bike up, pack your saddlebags, and as Bubba said "get on your bad motorscooter and ride".

Lake, you're killin' me.

i'm tryin' to work here, but i can't stop thinkin' about your terrible, awful, dreadful plight. so here's the deal: you ride out this direction (a.k.a. sunny SoCal) in July. you're gonna need at least three weeks.

you stay here at the fabulous ThunderDome with me 'n Denise for a coupla days when you get in the area and we'll put the BBQ to good use and show you some Good Roads, just to get you in the mood.

Thursday July 8th we'll launch early for Laguna Seca, via Hwy 58 (Clement Salvadori writes about this one all the time) and Hwy 1 (the Ultimate One). the stretch from Hearst Castle to Carmel may be, without the slightest exaggeration, one of the finest motorcycle roads in the world.

you spend three days at Laguna Seca (where else ya gonna see AMA Superbike and WSB in the same place, not to mention Bike Night Saturday night down on Cannery Row), and mingle with the rich, fast, and famous.

Monday morning you launch from Bubba Gump's in Monterey and set out on Four-Play (four days of sport-touring the best of the West Coast), arriving in Woodland, Washington on Friday just in time for the 7th annual SPLASH kick-off BBQ and party.

you spend a coupla days SPLASHing around Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier, and then, finally, alas, heavy sigh, rip a new one gettin' your bad self back home and back to what passes for reality.

there, that's the best i can do for you. nope, not technically a BRAG event, i suppose, but i guarantee you'll be braggin' about this adventure for a good long time.

ok dude, i GOTTA get back to work.

the Buell is in your court now.

FB :)

I've never been to Laguna or Daytona but just how many other factory backed riders clubs have tents there?

Maybe they, the NFL? should change the dates of the football season instead?

Can ya tell I'm dying for a good adventure?!?!? This is the first time since college that I can actually take a really summer vacation:D Not only do I want this to be motorcycle vacation, I want an adventure!!!

Ferris....I might take you up on that offer. I've been to the west coast a number of times but never had the pleasure of riding while there. The Napa trip sounds like fun but I'm already planning a week there in February (non-bike related).

Mike...The Newfie trip also sounds like a possibility. It is a little closer to home. As for the Packers/Chiefs.....rematch of Super Bowl I?!?!?!? The Chiefs still wouldn't stand a chance :D

Dennis,
While I haven't met Ferris in person (good events prevented or redirected my plans to attend SuperSPLASH) I can tell you this:

Take him up on his offer. You will not regret it.

Next time we're in the same area one of us should bring along a U.S. map to point out some good roads and routes and potential travel times. How much time will you have, two weeks, three, four? A ride of a lifetime would be to do this western loop ride and finish it off with a jaunt up into Canada, over the hills (aka: Canadian Rockies) to Calgary, and make your way eastward across Canada or the States. And if your butt is still saddle happy complete the big ride with an eastern loop to NewfieLand. Guaranteed you'll have the entire Pack green with envy when they hear about your summer vacation.

And who's to say you can't go to the same vacation spot twice? Use the February trip as a recon exercise. And be sure to get a window seat on the plane there and back.

Any questions? (And yes, we're ganging up on you with a group arm-twist on this trip.) ;)

Running the Ridge will be a great ride.
Boone is a tourist trap, but Valle Crucis is awesome. These are some absolutely killer roads!

Dennis,

Three days to get here, another 5 or so on the island (roads and scenery you will never forget) then three days back.

Not to mention the ride through Nova Scotia on the Cabot Trail to get here is a bloody hoot.

Last time I rode the Cabot trail was in late September when I picked up my convertible in Toronto. Myself and me buddy left Halifax around 12:30am in the dark for the 5hr drive to North Sydney as we needed to catch the 6:00am boat. We sort of did it in 4.5hrs including the construction delay of 30 minutes. Nothing like driving the twisty roads at 90-100mph in the dark with the top down. We had passed about a dozen or so vehicles and after about 20 minutes of being delayed they all caught up - hehehe - some were not so amused that we passed. Before that I was there on the S1 on the way back from the 20th but it was during daylight - still fun but not quite the same!!!!

Ferris,

I might have to take you up on your offer!!! But may have to o extra riding in Oregon as I might have to move out there... why oh why am I in this wretched frozen tundra land?

Dave,
A few of us (including several members of the KCMOb) were discussing going to Colorado this year prior to the announcement of BRAGs trip there. I think there is a very good possibility of us making that trip.
If you have not been to NC or Deals Gap, you really should look at doing that trip. I was down there for the 2001 Brag Adventure and again for the regional adventure in 2002. You will have a great time. If your headed that way, contact Racerboy or V2WIN, they go down there several times each year and will be able to give you a list of the must ride roads. They assisted Leslie for the 2001 trip and planned the 2002 regional adventure. They also will be able to suggest places to dine and see. hope you have a great time!

Keith

Thanks for the info Keith and the off of a place to stay Frank.

We may need to stash my sales managers bike in your garage for a few days while we are down there, you cool with that?

Brian,
Its great to see some local people involved in this years event. It should make for a very enjoyable experience for those attending. I would love to come down there again this year but each year I try to see an area of the country that I have not seen before. Thats why several of us are looking at the Colorado event. Wish I could do all of them, but with a wedding this spring, I have to kind of pick and choose. :( hope you guys have a great time!

Brian,
She has been to Deals Gap with me twice and arkansas last summer. I don't think there will be a problem with me getting out for motorcycle trips. <IMG SRC="> Of Course I have to trailer to the event, so she has a vehicle to go shopping if she wants, but hey I still get to go! <IMG SRC="> We even hosted 8 members of the KCMOb for the Illinois Harley Rally that took place in our hometown last summer. She is looking forward to doing it again this year! The only thing she has against the X1 is the discomfort of the seat after a couple hours.
