Just saw the video, you knew from the landing that he was either gone on the spot or would never walk again. Disturbing

RIP

I remember when guys like Darcy and Vander started doing big tricks on bicycles and how amazing it was. To see these guys doing it on motorcycles just amazes me. Jeremy was one of the great ones and he'll be missed.

do yourself a favor and don't watch the video. Not bloody or anything, but there is no doubt that he's not going to survive. I really wish I didn't watch it. Glad I told my son to leave the room first. Sad indeed.

Looks like he hit his temple.

Looks like the combined weight of himself and the bike folded his head back to the middle of his back.

I doubt he knew what hit him.

I have been following the FMX scene for a while and i hate to say it but with the amount of progression in the sport i knew it would happen soon, and as long as folks do this it will happen again.

That sucks, but at least he went out doing what he loved and there wasn't a long painful end.

Godspeed Jeremy.

What could be funnier?

The 18 year old who who sees this and realizes that there is more to life than suicidal X-games.

Be careful out there.

His death does nothing positive for motorcycling.

So keeping with that train of thought, all moto sports/entertainment should be regarded as stupid and meaningless?

I would not know a X-game from a X-man, but if that was the gig the kid did for a living then so be it. Callousness towards loss of life does nothing positive for humanity in general.

HEX. Didn't you have a friend that was banged up pretty bad lately? Whether or not it was your friends fault, could the darwin theory apply to him too?
Pretty frickin' bad taste on your part.
The guy is dead. Who the hell are you to pass judgment on someone? You better give up riding and never leave your home. Very uncool.
Have some respect.

I can't watch the freestyle stuff, even before this. The risks just seemed too high, and being a consumer for it made me feel like I had blood on my hands. It just feels like a contest for which talented competitor will take the biggest and stupidest risk the most times.

If he wants to live his life like that it's his business. When he does it for profit in public, then it becomes mine if I watch it, at least a little bit.

Would he be alive today and nursing two broken clavicles if he was wearing a Leat brace and chest protector? Who knows. Everytime I stumble across those freestylers, I am amazed that they wear less gear to flip a bike then I wear to ride 2 miles to get milk from the grocery store.

I feel for his family... what an awful thing for them to go through.

Not even a roll cage would have saved his life. No new gear will be invented.

Yeah, my novice rider friend just got banged up. Even though it wasn't his fault, he says that the accident was the stupidest thing he has ever done. He wishes every moment since his crash to take back the event. My friend didn't die, so Darwin not applicable (yet).

Celebrating suicidal behavior should be left to the Taliban, not American motorcycle enthusiasts.

I'm with Reep, friends, family, fans and spectators share the burden of responsibility. (I'm not looking for alliances, just share your particular viewpoint)

Edit: Bad taste perhaps, bad form would be Mr. Lusk's department.

responsible for what? freedom of choice? If you want to be controlled, join the Taliban. Whether or not you agree with the way HE lived HIS life, it was his to live. Everyday you get out of bed is a risk. Sure, what he did was risky, but I'm glad I live in a Country that I have the right to make that choice.
BTW, I hope your buddy is Okay.

He had almost the same crash and walked away from it previously... Seems like the Leat brace would have transferred the energy from his helmet to the leat to a wide area on his back and shoulders. Maybe. But he did hit awful hard.

Rocketsprink... how many times do you think he would have done that jump if he wasn't getting (a) money and (b) attention?

I don't mind watching road racing, or motocross or supercross, or even UFC. Lots of risk there, but it doesn't seem to be a case of "a contest to see who will take the biggest chances".

I'm not sure if I would watch the Isle of Man races if they were televised.

If it doesn't bother you, that's none of my business. I can't watch it anymore though.

I actually spoke to my editor about my feelings on this.

We agree that we are just so glad that our kids are not into X-sports.

We shared a concern that man made motocross tracks are 'destroying' young bodies.

Maybe not of the elite athletes who amaze us with their skill, but of the ones who are not.

I said It's like russian roulette with bikes - keep pushing the limits till they are crossed.

He said - but you could say that about any racing.

true.

Sad for the young man and his people.
