Drove several hundred miles and picked up my 01 M2 today. Very clean bike and a blast to ride. Only 2600 miles on her.
Got her home, checked the VIN and discovered I bought an M2L. Darn!! guess I can live with that even though I'm 6'1" with a 34" inseam. (anybody want to trade seats?)

Now the worst part, my my internal disk Supertrap has a broken inlet. I noticed it when I saw the muffler moving while the engine was running. Will Supertrapp replace the muffler or will I be buying a new one?

As for the bike... I love it. Smaller and lighter than I expected. Handles great. I think it's a keeper even with the above minor problems.

My guess is you will probably end up buying a new one. As far as the seat goes, it is a 1 inch difference in padding between the seats. if it is comfortable ride it, otherwise look on Ebay, I think there are two Buell custom seats for M2's on sale right now.

I'd be interested in one of those belt guards. will they fit a '98 S1W? I like the mirrors too.

The mirrors are the ones they sell on Ebay all the time. I bought mine from Flanners Motorcycle company in California. The ebay ones always go for some crazy high price. They are good looking but can be useless when I have my jacket on in the spring and fall.

the belt gaurd works as long as you have the "newer style" swing arm. Also the belt gaurd I have was made out of stainless and I spent 10 + LONG hours polishing it. The ones that I made after that are regular steel and can either be painted or chromed. It's up to you. The are unfinished so you can do what you like with them. They are $15 plus shipping. (That's what they cost me to make + a little for my time) They keep your passenger's foot off the belt without being huge and plastic. You use your same bolts to hold it on.

can you just have your muffler rewelded. look for a small specialty welder that does TIG welding with argon backup. i had my header and v&h tack welded installed in a relaxed position and then removed them for finish welding 4 years ago. no more cracking. watch out for preloading, it will crack every time.

Try contacting SuperTrapp about the muffler. They replaced mine about 2+ years ago. It was right after they released the current model. They were not going to replace until I reminded them that they also built the Buell slip-on that was recalled for faulty front mounts. They changed their tone in a hurry after that comment.

Good luck with the new Buell. I love both of mine: D

I personally think that the M2L seat is more confortable than the standard height seat. You might like it.

What about those custom turn signals? Got anymore of those laying around or know where or how to make? Just looking for ways to clean up the rear.

cliffb.....I have a m2 regular seat and might consider a trade. My m2 seat is not showing wear or damage.

Koz5150...Do you have phone number for Flanners motorcycle in California and the part number for the carbon fiber mirrors?

Hay cliff.... Supertrapp is pritty decent about replacements... if you tug at them long enough that is. But since you werent' the origonal buyer, your prolly gonna have to buy a new one. I doubt the warrenty is transferable.

No harm in calling and finding out though.

My bad, the company with the mirrors is FLANDERS not flanners. Here is their website

http://www.flandersco.com/MirrorSearch.html

Look under Universal and the part number is 401-97131. It is on the second page of the mirrors.

Congrats on the M2, they're great bikes!!
I agree, I'd keep the low seat for awhile, you'll be a little lower and the low seat is narrower so it's easier to slide off on. I'd agree it's more comfortable also, mine was a standard but my neighbor Mike's is a low and had I kept mine, I'd have a low seat on it.
My SuperTrapp broke as well and I had a local welding shop reweld it and it worked great until two days before I traded for the XB12R and it broke again!! Remember, you're trying to attach a muffler to a paint shaker!!

Enjoy the new ride!!

I too am 6'1" with the same inseam. I have a 2001 M-2L, I love her. I have riden my buddy's regular M-2, but I dig the lower seat. It is much more comfortable, and makes the bike "fit" me better. Keep it like that for a few rides, and if possible, swap seats for a few more. See which ones you like more. Enjoy the ride.

I've got 3 seats for my M2; the stock seat, the Low seat and the custom seat with the blue piping. Of the three, I like the custom seat best,EXCEPT for long rides (12 hours +). I also find that the extra height of the stock seat changes my body position just enough that I'm a little less stiff after 600 miles. So, when I'm going on a long trip like the 20th, on to Newfoundland, I'll put on the Stocker; but as soon as I get home, the custom goes right on, since it's much better for everyday use. If I could only have one seat, it would be the custom. Dave S, has them on sale right now at a really good price.
