I'd like to use a 15 Watt solar panel 96418-2VGA with a 7 amp solar panel regulator 96728-1VGA from Harbor Freight to trickle charge my standby Buells. It's approx $70 for the solar panel and $20 for the regulator. Anybody done anything similar? Comments welcome.

I wouldn't but Harbour Freight with someone elses money but that's not what we're talking about here. I know that the car dealers use those solar jammies. I see them on dashboards all the time. I assume they plug into the cigarette lighter wich means they are designed for auto's and may be putting out too much current for a bike. Cool idea and I'm sure someone has done it and can help out.

I used to use something similar on my RV (the dash mounted type that plug into the cigarette
lighter) not sure how much wattage it pushed, but it wasn't much.

It worked well as long as the kids didn't "accidentally" leave the bathroom light or
other electric bit on when we parked it or leave it on after sneaking out there to hide
from work...

Biggest problem you are going to find with a solar charger; You have to leave it, and the bike out exposed to the sun.

Someone WILL come along and help themselves to your new charger.
