I am.

I keep thinking I will replace my old Paramount, but I always end up fixing it instead. The only thing OEM is probably the frame and seat stem. I just got a set of (I think) Continental Spike Claw studded snows for it. I'm going to try them this weekend.

old school Mt biker here! I have been thinking about polishing the frame for a LONG time now, maybe this year when I am laid off.

Oh, I am new school too, except I haven't ridden it much.

I sold mine a few months back to free up some money, but I've done a fair amount. Fun as hell. The wife and I did a 4 day camping/mtn biking trip in WV before we got engaged. We got married in the same part of WV because of the fond memories. Nothing like a muddy mtn bike girl!

Bill, I've got an OLD Haro Extreme Comp with the elevated chain stays. I broke a drop out on it in 06 and can't bear to get rid of it. If it's a steel frame, it'll last forever with care. I'd update it with a disc brake tab and ride on. Steel is REAL!

Bikertrash, is that a proflex fork on the Cannondale? I was almost ready to pull the trigger on a new Cannondale F29 2, but no one would work with me on pricing. You may want to contact Cannondale on the frame polishing... They have a lifetime warranty on frames and you may void the warranty by removing the paint.

I was looking for this model after rave reviews. I found one on closeout for 50% off where I will be vacationing next weekend

I used to mountain bike all the time. I absolutely LOVE it, problem is, I have to drive 45 minutes to get anywhere decent, and even that's just a 5-10 mile loop. I have a Haro Escape 8.1 that's working great for me!

Needs a tune-up like crazy right now. I think the brake pads are shot!

I raced a couple times too... I did alright.

I know Mike... We rode together at Alum once. The cool thing about the Ferrous 29 is that it's a 29er (read, 700cc tires) and I can run road bike tires on it for riding the street/commuting.

I may be racing in the Clydesdale class. I may be fat, but I'm in decent shape.

Thumper74, it is a Girvin fork, which ProFlex, later bought by K2, put on their bikes. My dad has a full suspension ProFlex.
Notice the other old school goodies on there: BioPace crankset, DiaComp 990 rear brake, Dart/Smoke tires, XT thumb shifters, Salsa bar ends, Avoset saddle...
I am not the original owner, but I will look into warranty issues concerning stripping the paint.

The Dart/Smoke is a Panaracer, right? I think I have one that's way dry rotted in the garage. I love Salsa parts, they have a new, sweet Scandium frame with carbon fiber frame.

In either case, ask about their 'crach replacement' policy. If you're not the original Owner they will generally treat you as the original owner with a crash replacement. Basically, abuse and crashes aren't covered under the warranty, but they give you a REALLY nice discount on a new frame ordered directly from them. Then the new frame will have the lifetime warranty. Keep in mind that is if it actually does crack.
