How funny . . .the good news is that in 4 years we'll have a great new list. Obama, without a teleprompter, is eclipsed only by Carolyn "ya know. . . well, um. . like, ya know" Kennedy.

I said it in another thread . . . we are, at the very least, in for several years of fabulous entertainment.

All the comedians have gone into mourning.
None of the presidents in the past came close.
I predict he will never be matched.

And if Obama says "gunna" as in "we're gunna do something" one more time.

GOING TO!!! Dammit!

Poor vocabulary is not very presidential

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

I saw that live on TV when he said that, I fell off the couch laughing.

Not much wrong with George's grammar or vocabulary.
His grammar and vocabulary in the quoted statements was fine.
What was funny is what he said.

I will miss the laughs.

I don't think anyone's going to argue that George Bush was an eloquent speaker, but most of the quotes in the first post were not from George Bush:

Half the people on TV say "nucular", including Jimmy Carter, who as an officer in the U.S. Navy nuclear program, damn sure should have known better.

Oh and NASA is chiefly wasting our tax dollars out in space but the first "A" in NASA is Aeronautics... everybody seems to forget that point. That first A has led to supersonic flight, laminar flow research, HUGE studies in fluid dynamics. The predecessor to NASA was NACA. Spend some time googling. Virtually all airfoil sections in use up to the end of the 1960's were derived from NACA airfoils.

The gubbmint wanted it to sound more forward thinking than the "National Advisory Committee on Aeronautics" and therefore was changed to "National Air and Space Administration" - we neglect the "first A" at our peril.

Yeah, this is kinda related to what I do for a living and is not meant to take away from the fun of teasing people with poor speaking skills (or poor writing skills on the internet for that matter!!)

OK - so the other Bush-isms are fun (though some never happened)

Our new Anglo/European president O'Bama promises to be very entertaining and good for conversation.

There's a saying in the south, it's in Texas so I figure it's in Tennessee. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice and uh, um, well, it means you can't fool him again.

Or something to that effect, it makes me smile every time I think about it.

Poor vocabulary is not very presidential I so agree, not to dis' our President, but can somebody please tell him that umm and uuhh are not words. Rule number one of public speaking - never say um or uh, it makes it seam like you don't know what you're talking about. I know it doesn't affect his leadership so much, but it iritates some of us.

'Wot choo talkin' 'bout, Willis?'.

Yeah, I don't think it can make it any worse.

Sorry, had to.

I've found the most Bush-isms are either taken out of context or somehow manipulated. Still funny, though.

Lest us not forget who our last well-spoken prez was. My guess is we'll have less stupid quotes from Obama, and more that are "I did not have sexual relations with that woman"-esque.

Stay tuned.

I see our new commander in chief tried to walk through a glass door today. I wonder if we'll be seeing that on all the comedy shows for the next year or two.

My favourite Bushism, "The French don't have a word for entrepreneur",

Every time I see GWB I immediately think of Mel Brooks as Governor LePetomane in Blazing Saddles.

I gotta say Dave Letterman has been mining this properly for a good while now. Bastid always keeps me up at least thru his monologues. Love Leno, but he's no match.

Dave had a new show on a couple of days ago where he did Obama for the first time in "Great Moments in Presidential Speeches"- got a good belly laugh outta me.

And now for A Monkey Sneezing...

My favorite Bushism was a Hallmark birthday card from G.W. Bush.

Frontside it read, "I've got 3 words to say to you."

Inside, "Happy Birthday!"

What is even more fun than teasing about Bush's speech processing deficit is actually teasing other people with speech issues.

Except the guy I work with who has a lisp ("lithp") - he'll break my arms.

You know what is even FUNNIER? Go to the Northeastern Seaboard area and just LISTEN to how the people talk!!

Better yet, just LOOK at how people WRITE on the internet! Talk about FUNNY!!??
