We are going to need some guidance on TV - we're going to get one within a month of moving in... or if we stay ignorant, we're going to be at the tender mercies of Best Buy or the going-out-of-business sale at Circuit City. Gotta buy washer/dryer and fridge first. |

My neighbor bought a big rear projection TV on craigs list for $75. Its deep, so takes up space, and isn't HD, but the picture is good and for non HD channels / DVD's / video games, it arguably looks better then HD upconverted. I got a similar one given to me (blown) by a friend. One afternoon and about $20 worth of electronic components and fuses, and it is now up and running in the living room (and it is 1024i). So unless you are really hurting for space, or are trying to impress somebody, I would buy an old projection unit for under $100 from somebody who just *has* to have the latest greatest. |

Actually just pay attention to the sales in local stores. Electronics are coming way down. I just had a 46 inch Toshiba LCD 1080 go bad after one year. They gave me my complete refund. This just happened a month ago. With that same cash I bought a 52 inch 7 series LCD Samsung TV. I bought the 46 for 2300.00 and for the same cash. I bought the 52,got 5 year service plan and a Samsung Blu-Ray player for free. Just watch the sales. What I like about the local stores is the service agreements. I don't lift a finger to have it fixed. They come to me. Congrats Steve on the new Dig's. The place looks really great. I need a shop like that. I'm in envy!!! |

Last time I bought a new TV, I paid about $175 for a 21 inch. This is culture shock to say the least! $2 thousand is more than I paid for my pickup 120,000 miles ago. |
