That bike was for sale for $2800 on the Des Moines craigslist a couple months ago. From the photos he emailed, it looked very clean and well worth the money. At the same time, an S1W came up for sale and I ended up buying it. By the time I got back to contacting the S2 owner, it was sold.

At that price, there is a good chance it'll get parted out when nobody pays his ransom. This guy has been parting tube frames regularly on ebay....he parted an X1 and S3T just recently. He has ads on every craigslist location within 200 miles of omaha, wanting to buy tube frame Buells. Right now, I'd guess he is having pretty good luck finding them cheap.

i dunno if it's such a bad thing that he's helping so many others piece back together their old tubers at the cost of just one...

I saw that auction and yes it does look like he is making a business out of parting out old Buells. I have mixed feelings about it. Like Nillaice said he's helping keep other old Buells on the road. It also should help raise the value of the bikes we own by thinning the herd. On the other hand I would like to have an S2T and I hate to see one be scattered to the winds and never be for sale again. So many Buells to own and be saved, yet so few dollars to do it with.

There is always the law of supply and demand too. Do a Badweb boycott on this guy and nobody buy from him. With little or no demand he will find a different brand of bike to part out.

I've seen the X1 he parted out in person. That bike needed some TLC, but definitely nothing worthy of parting out.

What a shame..

Nillaice has it right. I've owned three S2s. One I bought new off the showroom floor and sold it that way. One I bought as a basketcase with some parts missing. The other I bought as a parts bike to complete the basketcase bike. The extra parts from the parts mule were snapped up as quick as I could post them. Folks were fixing their S2's from the parts I was selling.

I was also in a situation where I could not sell my S3. I parted it out for money than the highest offer I received for the complete, running bike.

Badwebbers boycotting this guy won't slow him down. The parting-out market place is in it's prime and the majority of Buell owners do not hang or post here.

Just my .02

The seller has it listed as a buy it now only "auction", so if he gets no bids he can end the action early.

He also put in the listing a note to have people contact him if they're going to be interested in parts.

I suspect he has a buyer's list and is keeping track of who wants what and how much they'll pay to get it and when the numbers add up to what he needs/wants then he'll either pull the auction or let it time out and won't bother to relist it until his parts shoppers list is fulfilled.

I tried to do the same thing with my M2, needed to see a minimum amount but wasn't going to part it out if I couldn't get there. Never got there so the bike still sits mostly whole in the garage. I did sell off a couple of spares and extras I had for it since then.

I do hope he sells it whole for the $4,500 or so as then that will set another price point for S2's. As to parts he'll have versus what I need/want for my S2, I'll be staying out of that game since other stuff currently has a higher priority.
