That's my problem, I use my phone for work emails.

The new G2 Android based system is supposed to be great, we'll see.

I bought one about 3 months ago. I was originally against getting one and was only looking for a dumb phone with a keyboard for texting(non bb, palm, etc). After looking at what was available they all felt like garbage and cost about the same as an 8gb. The 8gb is fine for me as it is not my only ipod. I keep my classic in the car and use that to store all of my music. The iphone is used for select playlists which I change every couple of days.

Also, it is currently -20 in Minneapolis.

My brother washed his in the pocket of his jeans. As soon as he took it out of the washing machine, he shook as much water as he could out of the phone, and put it in a jar with some rice.

A few days later, it worked again.

Can't use voice calling with bluetooth. Makes hands free pretty much useless, especially with my helmet bluetooth. Depending on the features you actually use, look at Verizon's LG Dare.}

I use my iPhone in a full corporate environment . The exchange support is fully licensed from microsoft.

For those of with iPhones, the best app of the week is "crayon physics" I can't stop playing it.

Look on YouTube for demo videos

Court,

They allow tethering now? I thought that wasn't allowed? Or you have to pay extra for that eh?

I've got my Smartphone hooked up to my laptop all the time, and there's a simple registry fix that allows me not to have to pay the extra $15.00/mo fee for tethering. Another fail on the iPhone.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure the iPhone doesn't have the capability to open/edit/create Word, Excel, Powerpoint docs, another thing that bugs me. But with no COPY/PASTE, it's useless anyways.

If it could do what my current phone, the XV6800, does, I'd be happy. But it can't even send picture messages. That's just major fail.

I believe there are apps that allow you to edit excel, word, and powerpoint files. I only have a file reader which allows me to look at these files, but not edit.

my next phone will be an iphone, to replace my Treo. I'm looking at the Palm Pre, which looks to be pretty neat, but they are saying that all apps for it have to be written in html/css/js, and not the C++ that system apps can use. The problem with that, is that on my phone I only *need* 1 Application and that is a ssh client. And i've never seen an ssh client written in javascript : )

The Copy/Paste thing might piss you off if you expect your phone to be a really small laptop. I don't use mine nearly as extensively as that. Instead, I use it for the following things, all of which it does a great job at:

-Looking things up on the internet
-Looking at Google maps, now with street view, which has been helpful already to do a recon of an area before I even go there
-Keeping track of important emails and replying when necessary
-Integrating my contact list with my phone and my calendar and Google maps
-Looking at weather with a moving radar map
-Playing games (lots of great games!)
-Mobile banking
-Voice recorder
-A remote control for iTunes on my computer and my AppleTV
-Showing pictures and videos (both on the phone and on YouTube) to friends
-Listening to music
-Watching movies
-Reading PDFs, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets

And countless other things. I haven't been held back by a lack of copy/paste, but then again, I don't do that much on the phone, as you can see...

i bought the first iPhone a week after it debuted, then upgraded to the 16GB 3G iPhone this summer...
i absolutely LOVE mine, i don't find it fragile at all, i do have it in a case tho.
also, there's a couple little things i miss [copy/paste, etc]... but it's about 98% awesome !!

I dnt know if if will allow pix messages, but there are a slew of apps that you can only get with a jailbroken phone, like text file editors, and a neat one that allows you to save YouTube videos on your device.

It also makes it possible to transfer files between the phone and your computer, making is possible to create your own free ringtones, or save the audio from a voicemail.

I'm contemplating the whole thing...

Jailbreak and unlock you can use any carrier, yes pic messages among a ton of other things.

Dont know where youve been looking Brinnutz but no extra charge here to tether my phone.

And this is on the way.

Yes, jailbreaking it allows additional applications and tweaks to be installed, not just what you can get from the app store. A must, in my book.

Remember, there's a difference between jailbreaking and unlocking...

As for me, I bought one off e-bay, jailbroke it, and unlocked it. I had it for about a week and found that while the screen was MAGNIFICENT, the interface was smooth, and the overall light usage was easy, it didn't do what I wanted it to do. At least, not in the way I wanted.

Depending on the carrier, check out the HTC Diamond or HTC Touch Pro. I currently have the Diamond on Sprint. Windows mobile, HTC TouchFlo 3d front end makes general use fun. Power behind the scenes makes it great. Screen resolution is better than the iPhone. Windows Mobile allows for a plethora of applications. It syncs with my exchange server for true push e-mail/contacts/calendar. Verizon's version of the Diamond got neutered. AT&T has the Fuze, which is the Touch Pro - has a slide out keyboard, but the rest is the same.

Built in FM tuner, gps, wifi...

I'm running TomTom Navigator 7, so I don't need connectivity to get directions : ) - although google maps does work as well.

I can tether for "free", even get software that allows my phone to become a wifi hotspot, so I don't even need to plug it in.

Check it out, there's so much more that it can do...

I can open Word and Excel docs on mine without the help of an application. I cannot create or edit them but I do not need a phone that can. Applications that I use the most are the radio apps(Pandora, iHeart, Flycast). I can listen to my local stations as well as ones from all over the U.S. I am also addicted to iShoot, a tank game where you shoot mortars, missiles and nukes at your opponents.

It's put together from some theme settings. There are tons of them out there, This one was downloaded from cydia and installed from there, if I can remember the name of it I'll post it up for ya. Notice my signal bars on there are the at&t globe icon. Working on some stuff for it but cant lay claim to this set.

Hey Hammer,

When I look at AT&T's site, there's no 3G coverage in Newburgh. Has it changed, or is that an older iPhone? I've got an original iPhone, but even though there's 3G here in Tallahassee, I don't want to upgrade knowing that in four or five months I'll be in a non-3G area, and I'd still have to pay the $10 3G premium...

Wow.

We have Verizon in our Central Illinois location. ATT just does not do as well on the phone part as Verizon, and we need the phone service since we have dumped our landline. I bought an IPOD Touch just before Christmas and I really love the WiFi,applications, podcasts, movies, pictures, and audio books. I use a Motorola Q for a phone and Jerry uses a Blackberry 8330. We have the best of both worlds.

Brin- it's not so much you pay extra for 3G, but the plans for the 3G iPhone compared to the 2G are about $10 more per month. There isn't a "3G" upcharge on your bill or anything.
