I always thought it would be cool to dress up every day to go to work. I still think it might be cool sometimes.
I don't own anything other than dungarees and t-shirts (long and short sleeved) and a few flannels. If someone is getting married, getting dead, or if I'm going to court I make a couple of calls and borrow clothes. I just couldn't bring myself to spend any money on fancy clothing that I could be spending on something cool. The one thing I do go way out of my way to do is to buy American. Filson sells high quality stuff (more and more of it is imported though) but it is not cheap. I work outside so I spend a bit of money with them and haven't regretted any of it. Carhartt used to make all of their stuff here but most is imported now and not of the quality they "used" to be known for. |

I wear hardcore monkey suits all the time for my job. Traditional business.
Suit, tie, wing tips (not really). Pen in pocket. Hanky square. Cuff links.
To me, it's like a broken in set of leathers. I don't feel like I am "at work" without it.
You know how if you are ATGATT you fee weird when you occasionally go out in just jeans and a jacket?
Same thing for me.
I hate "business casual". Either be business or casual (khakis, button down, nice shoes). Those BS ghey pseudo sweater polos and mock turtle necks look like ass. Just throwing a blazer on over it doesnt make it "business". |

Surely that's a country song, CityX. Sheesh! Oh, and I will trade you one of your HD buttondowns for the Dragon shirt I bought a while back...longsleeve black with a sweet dragon holding a twisties sign. Too bad it shrunk like a flash-frozen pecker. Size L. Use it as motivation for the Let's Get it On thread.
Ok some good suggestions coming from here...hadn't thought of Woolrich or Filson but those are good possibilities.
Ft_bstrd- I tend to agree about business or casual. My previous job was for a "traditional" engineering company where a tie was required except in summer. Being around nicely dressed professionals all the time makes everybody take themselves a bit more seriously, I think. That's good for an engineering company. I'm an environmental prof, though, so it's my responsibility to resent it. |

I like the fact that Jeans and Vendor supplied tshirt, and some Doc Martins, are AOK at work. Heck in the summer it is shorts time  Then again they tend to keep me locked up away from people. When they do let me out (IE meeting or the like, I just pick from the set of Company golf/button down shirts and a pair khakis. I used to get tons of stuff at Steve and Barrys, since it didn't look to bad and was cheap.., Now mostly target if I need clothes. Else my wife (who being from Northern Jersey is some sort of professional shopper) will locate me something cool on sale in the mall .. |

Get yourself a Kilt.
You'll have women falling over themselves to get to you.
It's a very confidence inspiring garment I walk about a foot taller when I'm wearing mine.
Only problem might be if you carry a gun.

Don't know that I'd want a piece that close to my pieces, if ya know what I mean.
You could probably slip a derringer or similar in your sporran though.
I have to confess it's not very practical for riding either, wind, visibility, & personal protection issues, as I'm sure you'll understand.
