Somewhere (as I was hitting every site I could to try and learn as much as possible about the Buell S3T before taking ownership this week) I ran across an article about a quick and easy fix for the breadbox. I'm thinking the fix was for a problem with oil getting into the air filter element????? Anyway it said something about buying a .60 cent part from the Harley shop, installing it and re-routing something. I should have favorite placed it immediately but didn't now I can't find it. Is there a problem with oil getting into the air filter on the bikes? If so is there more than one cure for it? I'll be asking questions as they come up so please bare with me. Also was wondering if there is a registry of the location of members on the board. Thanks a lot, Mike |

You might try using the "Search" utility here. Or just peruse the Knowledge Vault's "Engine - Breathers" and "Engine - Intake" topics. Main thing is to not overfill your oil. Keep the level between the full and low marks on your dipstick as measured on a warmed up engine immediately following shut down. Oil in the airbox is most likely a sign of either overfilling or excessive blow-by or both. Excessive blow-by is a sign of poor piston-ring sealing and is relatively easily addressed by a competent technician/mechanic. I suggest just riding your Thunderbolt and not worrying about such a problem unless it does indeed become apparent. Chances are, it won't. |

Try this one: http:/home.att.net/~Castodon/DonCastrosS3ConventionalWisdom.html Hope I typed that right. Probably the best fix would be XB rocker covers with the PCV valves. |
