From WBAL.com Harley-Davidson of Frederick Maryland has delivered 12 specially equipped motorcycles to District of Columbia police for use during Barack Obama's inauguration parade. The motorcycles were delivered Friday morning on two flatbed trucks. It's the fifth consecutive inauguration the dealership has been the successful bidder to supply the motorcycles with sidecars for the Metropolitan Police Department. Very cool little video. There is a white Firebolt that you can see throughout the video in the background... mostly just the back end of it and the front a couple times too. | ||

Yep, that's us  And, I have to doublecheck - not back officially until Jan. 2nd - but I'm pretty sure the 'bolt is available. We've got a matching 1125r, too - looks SWEEET. | ||

Nah, they've got an assortment. I want to say they have 40 FLHs with sidecars in service at any given time; I think they keep them for 2 inaugurations and retire them, usually 20 at a time. Sidecars get stacked in the shop during the warmer months, and put on for winter use/balance - they ride 12 months, sidecars are "snow security" for 'em. I just need to find some guys on Motor Patrol who're tall enough, and put 'em on the XP. Oughta take the place of that XL with NO problem | ||

To get the DC Police order and the even larger NPS Police order you have to include a sidecar. Given the current Buell's frame design that's be pretty difficult. |
