I been hearing about them for years, but since I'm a new rider they look AWESOME. Thunder in the Valley in Pennsylvania, Daytona, Myrtle Beach, anyone go? I'm 22 so I dunno if there geared towards me but they look like a lotta fun. Hopefully my buddy will get a Firebolt by spring/summer like he says he is. Anyone go? Camping is cheap, but what about the rest? Parties, riding, etc. Feel somewhere stuck between the Harley people and the sportbikers because we ride Buells.

I don't typically enjoy riding in large groups of people, or doing parade laps up and down main street. For those reasons, I don't care for rallies all that much.

However, it's a big collection of people who, for one reason or another, are really into motorcycles. There's plenty to see and a lot of interesting people to meet. Plus you get a chance to see what's new and exciting in the industry, maybe take some test rides, and so forth. For those reasons, I do like rallies.

Pick one near by and go check it out to see if you like it.

We have one right in my backyard, and after the first two years, I discovered that I didn't like doing the "official" rides or poker runs, but I liked just cruising around the area with a small group of friends and doing demos.

There's generally something for everyone.

Buelltober, March Badness, Homecoming....these are three of many Bueller get-to-gethers. You don't have to hit the HD ones if you don't like.

From what I've been told, Sturgis, Laconia and Daytona have all become alot more Buell friendly.

You might enjoy March Badness or Buelltoberfest. Both take place in the north GA mountains. You can rent cabins, hotels or camp. Both times you will meet lots of BadWebbers and have a great time. There will be other bikes there, but lots of Buells.

The nice thing about these two events is you can ride all day or take short runs throughout the day. Someone is always leaving to do a loop.

Someone is always leaving to do a loop.

Except in unrelenting rain. Then you have to settle for following Damnut down Rt. 60 just to hit an ATM to get a taste of the roads.

Awesome. Sounds like a lotta fun. I'm lucky those Buell ones are east coast, even if they are a few states south of me. Do alotta badwebbers go? I think I might aim for Buelltoberfest and Thunder in the Valley or Myrtle beach. Florida is a little too far.

Our first Buelltoberfest was 2007 and we had about 30-40 Buellers there. We had such a great time, we scheduled Buelltoberfest II and we had about 80 or so on the roll call. What makes that so unique, is that it is NOT a sponsored event. There is no schedule, no dealer, no demos and no freebies. Just a fun-filled weekend in the GA mountains.

Sorry Mark, didn't mean to forget WV! Your parents are troopers for taking all of you on each August! Carlos and Webe are looking forward to WV again this year. Wonder what the dance of the rally will be for 2009.....

You are not stuck, you are part of the elite!

All of the Buell events are great. Homecoming was better than I could have hoped for and a must do for anyone that can make it.

I have been to Daytona, Sturgis and several biker events in this area and others. Any Buell event, no matter how small, beats the main stream look at me crowd every time.

I enjoy rallies of any kind, but generally speaking, harley riders are all about cruising the strip and getting attention. A lot of jap bike riders are squids and only interested in top speed - not safety, gear, skill, or riding within the law. Again both of those statements are generalizations. You can find good safe mature riders on any bike.

Buell events seem like they are geared towards the pure love of motorcycles and riding. I've always heard that ducati and bmw events are geared that way as well, but have never attended either.

I do a lot of the local BMW Rallies. Not too big, but a lot of fun people. They don't even give me a hard time if I decide to go by Buell instead of by Beemer too!

I'm really excited for the Buell Rallies. At least I won't get the typical "is that a Japanese bike?" question that usually happens when I'm around some other uniformed riders. Need to rep the Buell at Thunder in the Valley to. Gotta figure out how to pack a tent and other essentials in Firebolt saddlebags and a backpack.

Tent option.

I have one. Works great, packs SUPER small, weighs nothing. The Snake Skins are WELL worth it.

theres a little rally up in Washington that if you have the time and the ride to do it, it is worth the commute.
Sport Bike NW & Dual Sport NW
It is a camping event (though there are some hotels available) To participate you have to be motorcyclist with VALID insurance. Its Three days of twisties riding, a poker tour, several side rides available, a film series, suspension clinics, Demo Trucks (BMW, Triumph, Aprilia, Ducati) {come on Buell!} and capped off by 3 days of dual sport adventure riding, clinics on handling big bikes over technical terrain. fun event.
Best part last year was that the only bikes that stayed for both events>.... 2 Buells and 1 KLR (but he was staff foto)
www.soundrider.com
its in july this year, come take a look at scenic Washington and Oregon. It will make you wonder why people go to Sturgis.
About 500 attendees last year. The riding and camping part keeps the squid factor down.

City, that sounds awesome but I live in Maryland haha, waaaayyy too far. My job doesn't give me leave or vacation so I gotta limit my fun to Friday-sundays, thanks though!

Every year I promoted the Ramapo 500 in upstate NY, but every year I'm about the only Buell in attendance. Damned shame, because it is an AWESOME two day event. 250 miles each day on nothing but back roads. Ride your own ride, or ride with a group; up to you.

Rally fee includes tent camping, dinner, entertainment, and breakfast as well as a starter's pin and finisher's patch.

I've been to the Datona 200 several times. Never/Ever went down to the main street rally?

I've been to the classic at Laudon N.H. many times. Never/Ever went down to the Wares beach rally.

I have heard of the Ramapo 500 and want to do it one year. It is a bit of a ride to get there (from the Phila area) but if not this year then more likely next. This year is going to be an interesting year for me and a lot of folks I suspect.

Hey BOO, I checked out your profile. If you're being truthfull, you are a young buck. You will probably find the music and females at the sportbike oriented "rallies" more to your liking than the Harley type "rallies". I am generally a social misfit and think I may actually fit in at the Buell events. I've only been to one so the jury is still out. Over the years I have been to all of the big ones and many of the smaller ones and find them for the most part a waste of time. Unless you plan on a day of not riding and just hanging around hittin' on the chippies. I can't wait to check out March Badness I hear it's a good time. Well what I'm trying to say is...try all types and see what you like the best, and remember to behave while at someone elses shin-dig. Unless you know who sponsored it and are positive who your hanging out with.

If you're already or not easily corrupted Easyriders put on some all over the states. There's one in Chillicothe Oh. that I've been to a couple of times. First year I stayed around the ring and watched all the vendors and bike events, the next year I paid to get into the campground to use the dyno and whooa Nelly. Check your morals at the door. More T&A than you could shake a stick at. I was pretty overwhelmed the first time, kinda visual overload, you have to look at 10 bad ones to see one good one. It was worth going just to have a funny story. But you're right the rallys are fun.

Easyriders, I explain it as a place where you can walk around naked and have sex in public. There is no reason to bring a bike because you are not going to ride it. When given the chance, I guess you have to go at least once, but if you really like to ride, you will end up spending your money on gas for the bike then wasting a bunch of time walking around looking at naked people and choppas.....
