I noticed it mentioned a few times on the badweb, and it sounds like a worth while organization. I was just wondering if anybody has joined and what they think? While I may not be a big supporter of some wars (I'll leave that one alone) I do have the utmost respect for those who have, and do serve. | ||

It sounds like most of what they do is a procesion at fallen vets funerals. And legally keep any protesters away. I read a story (here) about them revving their engines to drown out the protesters. And I saw a picture of them on here of a funeral proccesion led by a ton of bikes with flags. Among them a Buell with 2 big A@@ flags. Here's the link to them. http://www.patriotguard.org/ | ||

They were formed to keep those lunatics from westborough baptist church protesting at sodliers killed in Iraq/ Afghanistan funerals. that group is the only group doing it. somehow they reason the soldiers died because of the gays in the U.S... PGR does escorts, at the request of the family, for fallen veterans. This can include escorting the remains from the airport to funeral home and from funeral home to cemetery. All types of riders & bikes are welcome to participate. | ||

Our MN PGR group does many thing. From standing in a flag line in below zero weather for a funeral, placing Christmas wreaths at the national cemetary, helping a "single mom" with home fix it stuff while Dad is in the sandbox to wrapping gifts at Borders as a fund raiser. I am also a member. I have not had the opportunity to go on a ride mission yet though. Added to Bluzm2's post, they go to VA hospitals, rehab centers, etc. trying to do what they can for Vets as well. PGR is a great group, and is well worth the time/effort to be a part of. Although I never served in the Military, I have a deep appreciation for those who have and do currently serve. I have ridden several missions with the PGR and I highly recommend to anyone to get involved.  | ||

We have friends that attended a military service for one of their friend's sons who was killed last year. The Patriot Guard was in attendance and the family was very moved and appreciative. My hats off to all participants of the Patriot Guard. Your actions speak louder than words. You make a difference for the families that they could probably never put into words. |
