No, been watching that set though. Since before the relist on them.

Just been sitting on a front that came with the wrong hub set. Have a rear in my possession with a spare in the works.

The bad part of that..... The parts manuals do not list the hubs separate from the wheel assembly.

cast ye net far and wide...

Then email tech support.

Just maybe this was my lucky day.

So I get a very quick response to my query about the hubs. From somewhere deep in the bowels.... The correct hubs, bearings, hardware and spacer are being readied for shipment to me.

Not something I would have expected for an out of production wheel. So kudos go out to the folks at PM and their tech support.

Package on its way from PM. Both the RS and S1 ought to be rolling on a set of Chicanes in the spring.

Rich,

The more I ride the RS. The more I think about the loss of certain parts. Those Mitchell wheels being one of the worst case scenarios.

I think it is. Like Buell, sometimes you need to do an end around the sales people. Talk to the ones really in the know. At least the ones that have stuff pigeon holed away.

From my brief conversation with this individual. I believe there lies a great interest in the Chicane wheels still. As in brand new sets would sell at a decent rate.

Loki:
the chicane wheel is the 4 spoke wheel with a slot in it ? or a 3 spoke wheel?
the PM wheels that are "now longer availble" are one of the few "shiny" wheels
I have ever seen that I actualy like,

are the chicane wheels spun? and built in sections? like the newer pm's

I am asking because I sure wish I knew that I could find parts and get repairs for mine, the second set of bearings is toast in my wheels. I so do not want to loose my wheels

Od,

The Chicane is the 3-spoke with the slot(early) or without the slot(later).

The 4-spoke with the slot(on the RS/RSS)is a Mitchell wheel.

PM refers to them as a "spun" not as a modular.

The front wheel is different from the rear. That being it was a universal design. In that regard it had separate hubs(bearing carrier)that bolted onto them.

The rear(for Buell) was specific fit and only the rotor carrier is a bolt on.

I for one would like to stumble upon a rear wheel set-up for a non-Buell application. If it is a universal like the front..... One could have a set of hubs made. Possibly...

For my front wheel, I got lucky. Really lucky. I did not talk to sales, rather went through tech support. Sales would(probably) have given me the drivel that it is a discontinued product.

I THINK the PM wheel is the better repair candidate for a spun bearing scenario. Like having the wheel modified for a replaceable hub(s).
