I have a 42" Panasonic plasma and a 40" Sony Bravia but have not had an antennae, cable, or any tv reception for 7 years. I have no idea what's even on tv anymore, but YES I am a video game junkie.
So "kill my tv just cause nothing is good on it anymore?" I don't think so, they cost too much.

"He says on a board marketing a product. "

Yeah... but they're products I'm interested in and related to a product I already own (that I saw for the first time in an HD dealership headed back from a run up to Ignacio). This is exactly the beauty of the internet.

If someone says "Buells are cool"... I can google Buell. If I have an interest I buy one.

It's about looking for information or having it spoon fed to you. If you're the spoon fed type then keep your TV and keep all of your trendy crap. Makes no nevermind to me really. If you let yourself be spoon fed then you'll only be fed what someone else wants to feed you.

I come to BadWeb because I like Buells.

What's on TV that's worth watching? Hockey? A tiny little portion of the racing that goes on? A very few shows on a very few channels? It's not worth being a couch potato man.

Read George Orwell's 1984. Do yourself the favor.

You can fall asleep watching TV... with your eyes open even... think about that.

Listen to a song called "Bullet in the Head" by Rage Against the Machine. It may not be your type of music but they make an excellent point.

Yeah... I ride a loud bellowing Buell, I have an old muscle car, and I do computers for a living... I'm certainly headed for a horse and buggy sometime soon. Quite the opposite I think.

There are none so blind as those who refuse to see.

Get rid of your TV. At least with the internet you can share ideas with other people instead of being spoon fed whatever the networks are interested in feeding you.

"Planning on giving up the Internet too, Cityxslicker? Seems to me it's every bit as bad, if not worse. "

I suppose I'd see your point but on a TV there's what... 999 channels and maybe three to six have something worth watching at any given time and they're more than %25 commercials anyway?

Try the Internet. Once you figure out how it works you realize you have three to six zillion channels, all tailored to exactly what your interests are. You just have to figure out how to get to them instead of just going to Yahoo, MSN or AOL (the same channels you get on TV...).

It's a better system. Start using it and let the chips fall where they may with regards to media delivery and watching those shows you used to watch on TV.

Get rid of your TV. At least with the internet you can share ideas with other people instead of being spoon fed whatever the networks are interested in feeding you.

Then you can just get spoon fed the newest trends, funny vids, banner ads and pop ups!

TV is fine and just like anything else, in moderation! I watch plenty of TV and still go to the gym three days a week and play hockey two to three times a week.

I believe it is called "viral" videos.
Those ad agencies have figured out how to do them well. i.e. Levi's jean jump, Raybans' sunglass toss, etc, etc, etc.

The rats have a lever that is giving the illusion of control but the food pellets still drop according to the Masters.

How is that for conspiracy theory?

If it werent for TiVo I would never watch the thing at all. Theres maybe 3 shows a week I watch consistently.

Funny quasi techno movie from the 80s, Looker. All about the tv and how ads were designed to control the public.

"The rats have a lever that is giving the illusion of control but the food pellets still drop according to the Masters. "

You've missed my point...

Please step away from the pellets that "drop" and go find your own. Before the internet people couldn't REALLY share data, ideas, information, truth etc. Now we can and are. If you're blind to that little fact then I can't help you.

What's Levi's jean jump and Rayban's sunglass toss?

See... I can choose to watch or not : ). I like Rayban's though so I'll go google that one. I prefer cheap Levi's.
