Guys, I spent $20 at the track for some expert sag and suspension setup with Dave Moss of Catalyst Suspension Tuning (pretty famous dude in the track/racing circles on the West Coast.) VERY eye opening and informative and a hell of a nice guy. It was easily the best $20 I spent ever on my bike. I would highly suggest that given the chance, get your suspension setup by a professional. But regarding this subject of this thread...he does a complete fork oil change for $150. I believe this is less than 1/2 of what the dealership quoted me for my XB and the job would be done by a true professional. That is inline with what most guys charge, if the forks are off the bike. I was going to pay to have mine done last time and I was quoted $150 to put all new seals and bushing in(my parts). But I am cheap and did the job myself for free. | ||

Take a look at the link--forks off the bike $100. Alot of guys here are not as handy or motivated to take on a job like fork oil...myself included. Also, lots of guys just use the dealer because they don't know there are other options. COrrect me if I am wrong, but I remember the dealer charging a huge amount for this job... Also, Catalyst travels nationally with the AMA so he MAY be in your neck of the works at some point. Anyway, I am just passing on my good experience with this outfit and trying to point out what I see as a good deal to get your forks done by one of the best in the business--not too often can you get this combo. | ||

Dealers go by the book, and its listed as something insane like 5 hours, so at a typical rate of $95 a hour labor, $475 plus parts (oil) and shop fees. | ||

Right...I wasn't sure if seals are part of the Buell service or not. I suppose they would be a good item to replace no matter what... (Message edited by fresnobuell on December 09, 2008) | ||

Dave is a nice guy, met him at the Buell track day and then he ended up buying a Triumph Daytona motor from me. He is going to give Terry and I a class on doing forks and suspension set-up. Should be fun.Just did the fork oil on my DR-650. Only had 6000 miles and stock oil looked dirty. | ||
