I can’t believe none of my So Cal brethren has reported on the IMS show yet! That just has to be rectified.

The Buell booth:
You have something to look forward to .

The booth is well designed and a welcome change from previous years was the added emphasis on racing. The Geico/Rossmeyer 1125R MotoST bike and James Gang XB12R bikes are featured. Buell racing video is shown on a big screen between the two bikes. This is very well done and attracts a lot of people.

To round out the racing theme, I had the pleasure to meet Mike Kirkpatric (BadWeb: Coolice), the crew chief from James Gang racing. I almost felt bad because I think I monopolized his time for a good hour. I learned a lot about MotoST from Mike and we both enjoyed a good chat.

To compliment the racing theme, we received a presentation from Lee Parks on suspension setup. Very well done and attended. The MC for this was Paul James (of James Gang fame and communications director for HD). To continue the Buell theme throughout the show, there was a racing school that used a Buell XB12S for demonstrating the racing position on the bike. And the Lee Parks booth had an 1125R for demoing racing position on a bike as well.

The Buell booth was very well attended in the morning – noon hour I was there.

The IMS show is mostly a repeat from previous years. – even down to where the various businesses set up shop!

I was glad to see minor changes, such as riding techniques demonstrations in several places. Reputable road racers are drumming up business for their track day schools and events. Seems like riding techniques and education are enjoying an uptick and the fringe, skull and bone stuff is receding.

I also saw a race on pocket bikes with kids. Awesome! The tykes are having loads of fun.

But, as always, fun to meet fellow Buellers in the area and discuss the finer points of Buellness.

On edit:
I'll just go ahead and do it.. kick myself!
How could I forget! Our very own Slaughter was there representing on behalf of the company (aka working the booth).
It is amazing to witness the suspension setup knowledge he can lay on an unsuspecting customer interested in a Blast!

They had two of them and Paul James did an unveiling and presentation of the features of the XR1200.

That Paul! He sure gets around!

What the hell is Mike doing in SoCal?! He's supposed to be back here with us in the Midwest, freezing!!
I need to get Mike a key back for his Motor home and I have one of Paul's engines in my garage still!

Mike,
Did you get that ride up Hwy 1 in? I sure hope you did. You worked hard that day! And with 75F and sunshine, you missed out if you didn't.

It was kind of funny to watch Mr. James. After the XR1200 presentation (where he proudly wore HD garb) he hurried across the isle to the Buell booth to help Lee Parks. With no time to waste, he changed his shirt on the fly to Buell - not missing a step! The man can wear multiple hats - or shirts, in this case.

Good people - these midwesterners!

Looking forward to the show up in San Mateo. Definitely one of my favorite days of the year. The proverbial kid in the candy store--and with an newer and cooler Buell booth, I can't wait!

I am gonna try to demo the Can-Am Spyder. It's the only thing that I really would like to try. I already have my 2-wheel dream machine.

I caught the show Friday night. My wife and I also felt like we were monopolizing Mike. We had a good conversation about our Ulyss, got some touring pointers, and he talked my wife into wanting to go to a race next season.
