Bombardier, I believe that Canada already has this policy to prevent freeloaders from drawing out of their system.

I believe there should be a grandfather clause of course, students already enrolled are not affected, but a stoppage to further entrance....

And God is a whole other subject....

___________________________________________
if you go to russia they speak- well- russian.
___________________________________________

That's inaccurate. I speak to Buell owners around the world, 6 countries last week. At least once a month I speak to a Buell owner in Moscow who was born and raised there. She speaks excellent English.
____________________________________________

I think that you are both right.
I do belive that the national language of Russia is well Russian. Yet, a lot of them do know English, and are very literate.
Those same people who speak Russian, and English probably know German, and Ukrainian. I have a friend who speaks four different languages fluently, and is in the process of learning French for # five. The European countries are small and as a result more people speak multiple different languages. In the Eastern European countries Russian is more or less the second language, and the one language that makes comunication faster. Besides, in this day and age, there are alot of pc's out in this world of ours. Alot of thie info on line is (as far as I can tell) is in English. Most European schools TEACH English.

I think that p3newbie was trying to make the point that when you travel to, or move to another country it is considerate for the person doing the relocation to assimilate into the culture and therefore the language of the land that you chose to reside in.

maybe i spoke too soon about the "more or less civilized" thing...

Matthew, for what it's worth you just lost a lot of credibility in my eyes as to the "sincerity" of your presence here on this thread.

just sayin'.

All I am going to say right now is WOW. Take a joke.

And if you really base credibility on a JOKE like that, then talking to you is pointless.

And if you didn't notice, this thread has become more of a discussion than some sort of persuasive action on my behalf.

I could care less if you sign.

I think Jerry, known to me as a pretty savvy guy, actually "got" the joke.

His intent, and Lord knows I ain't the brightest bulb in the Badweb chandelier, was to make the point that you eroded any credibility your thread had by tainting it.\

I've spent the morning reading documents as an SME on a legal team and am heading into a hearing this afternoon. Imagine for a moment if I conclude my opening remarks with . . . "and by they way that robe makes you look like a goofball".

Like our motors . . . we are not the individual parts but the sum of how we represent ourselves. There is, to use an old phrase, a time and a place for everything.

I, as some might tell you, have the capacity to be quite serious and professional and a pretty fair sense of humor. Wisdom is knowing where each belongs.

I wasn't paying much mind to you wasting your time with this petition. Your comment, and this is simply my opinion, removed any I did have and sent a message that, other than fun, it was a joke to you as well.

Perception is reality.

Credibility refers to the objective and subjective components of the believability of a source or message.

Traditionally, credibility has two key components: trustworthiness and expertise, which both have objective and subjective components. Trustworthiness is a based more on subjective factors, but can include objective measurements such as established reliability. Expertise can be similarly subjectively perceived, but also includes relatively objective characteristics of the source or message (e.g., credentials, certification or information quality).

I see........ I am quite a literal person, and have always perceived credibility as the first definition, trustworthiness. Never have used or taken not of any use of it regarding the second def.

I guess I learned yet another tidbit of information.

And if anyone noticed, I have no expertise in anything regarding politics.

But on the same token, now that the petition had been downplayed to a silly piece of e-paper, and I thought this had shifted to a group conversation without my credibility at focus. I thought it was just us badwebbers talking about a subject. I apologize for not staying on task, and I promise to find another thread more appropriate to make any sort of joke in.

I do have a question though. How conservative does everyone think this petition is? Serious question.

If you had the choice to change the focus but remain on the exact same subject, what would you choose to focus upon?

Matthew, what Court said.

i would add:

i was civilized above in my comments to you. i didn't call you any heinous names, for example, such as had been mentioned earlier in the thread.

i simply pointed out that your attempt at humor seemed so far out of context considering the intent of your thread and the "professionalism" you had displayed up to this point, and, well, it just seemed so totally inappropriate and crude and needless that it negated the respect i had developed for you in the past few days.

you've used this forum to solicit feedback regarding your political agenda, and we've allowed it and will gladly continue to do so as long as it stays "civilized."

but, since the issue at hand is so touchy, and since you're asking a broad base of folks for their take on such a hot topic, you're gonna eventually hear feedback that chaps your hide a bit.

as such, i'd suggest you develop a bit more tact when someone, such as myself, comes along and thoughtfully offers an opinion you don't necessarily agree with.

best regards,
Ferris, BadWeB custodian

I've never been a very tactful person, thanks to 6 years of service being in charge of 35 of the roughest salty dogs the Navy had ever seen. And I mean tactful in a liberal sense. I always got the job done, but don't ask how. The engineroom of a USN warcraft is no place for the lazy or sensitive.

I'm working on tact, as well as the learned ability to say the right thing at the right time, and I apologize for overreacting like I did.

I took it completely the wrong way.......
I'll admit in a second I took it out of its meant context.

And yes, my chaps are getting continually tanned with some of the most hateful things ever emailed to me in my life. I had to go back and make sure my petition didn't state that I was starting a genocide or something.

But I will admit some of the thread jacking posts have made me look around at other topics, particularly the bankruptcy of the US.

I saw a currency called the Amero. What is the deal with that?

p.s. Edited because I had to spell out a few things to a fuller extent to ensure the proper conveyance of what I'm trying to say.

Matthew, agree that threadjacks are rampant here on the board.

it's a time-honored tradition here on BadWeB. : )

re: your comments to me, no harm, no foul, and i hope you feel the same.

best of luck in your endeavors.
