We all knew the day was coming but I didn't think it would be this soon.

I've been searching high & low for an S1 flyscreen. The internet (ie ebay, BWB, ATB, etc) has been a bust. So I go the next route...contact a dealer.

After 15 minutes of sayings like "What's an S1?", I finally get someone that knows a little something about Buells. A quick search shows parts numbers for the "fender" that's what it's listed as in the Buell parts book. An even quicker type of the number shows the part is only $49 in primer and $70 painted!!! BINGO...I've found my part for less than ebay prices:D

Now comes the kick in the nuts.....}The part is OBSOLETE!!!!!!! H-D decided there were too many bikes in the Buell line to carry replacement parts.

Now I'm back to the drawing board. I'll probably end up spending too much on a part with damage just because the Motor Company doesn't have a big enough warehouse. For cripes sakes, they only stopped making the bike 6 years ago.

Sorry for the rant:(

Pissed off and cold,

Dennis}}

Dennis
what color do you need?

I will say this as gently as possible. YOUR DEALER IS A GOD FORSAKEN FRIGGIN DUMBASS IDIOT.

tHEY ARE NOT OBSOLETE IN IN THE PARTS BOOK IT IS CALLED A WINDSCREEN. YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE THING ABOVE THE HEADLIGHT RIGHT.

they are not obsolete. funny how I just got a brand new s2 fender for some one the other day.

I just got off h-dnet and they are all available.

I am sick and tired of hd dealers and hd the company letting their franchisee's staff their store with incompetant assholes. I ain't always right and I don't alweays know everything but I know how to find the right anwsers.

I am sick and tired of defending the dumbasses that think they know shit about motorcycles and they don't know dick.

HEY HD GET A GRIP ...YOU GOT ALL THE DAMN MONEY IN THE WORLD AND YOU ARE REPRESENTED BY FRIGGIN IDIOTS...ON THE DEALER LEVEL....SHIT YOU'VE BECOME MCDONALDS. DO YOU WANT CHROME FRIES WITH THAT.......

HELL I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DAY THAT WE HAVE A DRIVE UP WINDOW. I'D RATHER WORK THERE AND WEAR MY BAR AND SHIELD PROUDLY.

Dennis call me or I'll give ya the part number here. just tell me what color. I could get it for you or you could go back them and give them the part number and let there diddley dumbasses get it for you....

ok rant over......on with the show....

ps I will never be ask to work at corperate i am sure......not politcially correct enuff

Lake...Who da dealer that dis'd ya? You can ping the answer if you don't want to go public with it.

Bubba...Can you get me some chrome fries that fit a wide glide and how much?

DaveS...How much for the same batch of fries?

Just kidding. Really like the way the two of you are working together on the BWB. Friendly Competition can be a good thing.

Then again, I am interested if it was a Milwaukee area dealer that fumbled the ball for Lake as well as which one sold CJ the wrong oil filter for her XB9.

I know, I know....I should have called Brian or Dave first. I actually thought I had a decent dealer here in the Frozen Tundra. I guess I need to rethink that idea.

This is what I deserve....

The way I look at it, there is enough pie(Buell parts sales) for Bubba and I to both have a big piece.

You guys sure make the decision making and buying process easier. Fantastic product knowledge, quick turn around, conscientious follow up and great pricing. Makes the few day's lost to shipping more than tolerable.

Here's what I need....S1 windscreen

Primer is okay
Otherwise Ice Pearl White (S1W)

Nev...let's just say it's the nearest dealer that Char would frequent. My nearest H-D dealership still has a 1996 S1 on the showroom floor for $8500

Gee...Too bad they aren't a BWB sponsor. I bet they could sell that in a heartbeat. Then again, the price is a tad high. Perhaps they are hoping for "Antique Value."

Current part number is M1600.9AYN White
retail price 165.00
After discount 148.50

This is a vendor direct item so it will take 2-4 weeks to get.
I also did a search for you and no one has this part in stock in the US for you.

Let me know if you need one.

Ride to the edge!
I know how to look up part numbers

thanks dave

I just got off the phone with dennis and told him about these and gave him the phone numbers.

otherwise I'll get them for him if they don't have them.

I do know the primer fender for the S2 came here in 5 days so it may not be that far out on the primered windscreen.

thanks again

Thanks guys!!!!!!

The dealer in TX doesn't have the part. They sold it in 2000. The dealer in IA is unsure if the part is still in stock. The price is right also ($40.95).

Not to butt in here, but I will anyway...
Just a general comment on Lake's situation-
There are TONS of incompetent dealers out there. And even the good ones still hire morons. It's good to know there are guys like Dave and Bubba that can cover for the mistakes the morons make.
By the same token, there are a few good dealers AND employees that care. Take a moment and send 'em a fax, or email, or letter. The service I got from one individual when I bought my M2 was OUTSTANDING and I sent a 'Fax Of Praise' to the person, which incidentally ended up on the showroom bulletin board for almost a year. Let 'em know you appreciate them- HD doesn't.
Just for the record, the same dealership also employs a few token MORONS. Just can't get way from them, I guess.
Bubba or Dave-what do you get for a race can P/N 91424-99YA? (If it's not out of production already?)

YOUR DEALER IS A GOD FORSAKEN FRIGGIN DUMBASS IDIOT.

i just thought that needed to be repeated. now to my friends who work in dealerships and treat me well, you know that I say loud and clear whenever I see you and your fellow employees that I value you. Frank, BobB, DaveC/Kenton/and all of Topeka.

We all realize that Buell represents about 3% of your business, but most businesses I have been involved with work their tails off for the chance to grow 3%. Instead, HD dealers seem to deride the 3%'ers that come in the door and greet them with sneers and childish comments. What if they were treated well, and Buell became 6% of your sales? or 10%, and then we may have a trend in the words of Arlo.
