So is there anything to do there?

I will be there for work tomorrow night and leaving on Friday. Any good eats or places to go?

I do not have a car as I am not the senior engineering on-site. How good is the public transportation?

Welcome to Minnesota.
If you are staying near the Mall of America you can hit the bars there. You can also take the light rail to downtown Minneapolis. Lots to do and see as far as nightlife.

IF you are near the mall of america, there is(or was, its been a couple years) a fun piano bar in there ive been to a few times. ya, i didnt think it would be my kind of thing either until they were doing dueling piano's to "who the f@ck is alice" it was a pretty good time.

I'm actually a Field Service/Technical Support Engineer and my company builds QA/R&D systems for the Data Storage industry, basically hard disk drive companies. (Western Digital, Seagate, Fujitsu, ect)

I'll be working at Seagate this time.

We also sell a magnetic research tool to the same companies and to many universities around the world. That one is called a VSM, aka Vibrating Sample Magnetometer.

I install, repair and train people on our machines. fun stuff seeing the world on someone else's buck and getting a salary for it too. : )

My fiance' is an R&D manager at Seagate. She works nights, so you probably won't run into her, but if you see 5'nothin' girl with a walking cast on her left foot, that's Julie. If I didn't have to work nights myself, I'd be willing to show you around. I don't have to be at work till 22:00, so I could at least show you where to get something to eat.

I'll be there at 8 tomorrow night and leaving early afternoon on Friday. Don't have too much time. I guess my hotel is 1 exit from the mall.

Hey Nils,

How far is your place from the Mall? I'd like to grab a few shirts.

We are 20 minutes east of the Mall. Kind of a spendy cab ride.
If you are looking for something fun for Weds or Thursday Night. Check out Lee's Liquor Lounge. 2 really good bands are playing. Cheap beer and fun place.
Its located downtown behind the Targer Center.

Are you near the light rail?

No, SPHD isn't near the light rail line. If you need a ride over there, I could take you. I've been meaning to stop by there, anyway.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but, Nils, how's the little pillager doing?

If you have time and don't mind that would be great Lou, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Bloomington. The hotel has a shuttle to the mall and I was told I can take the light rail from there. So if it makes it easier for you to have me meet you somewhere off of the rail, I can do that too.

Let me know. Thanks!

Jim
