I work at Iet labs on stuff that was originally made by Gen Rad.
I was surprised just now by a 1689 Digibridge that belongs to H-D from the Capitol drive plant.

Cool eh?

What exactly is a 1689 Digibridge?

Oops.
I work with them all the time so I just take it for granted that everyone knows what it is/does.

It is an instrument that measures resistance, capacitance, and inductance.

I already fixed it.
They passed a large amount of current through the thing and blew an etch off of the main board.

I hate it when that happens.

Sounds like that would fall under the category of "they let the smoke out of it".

yup.
The protection diodes clamped it to ground to successfully protect the rest of the circuitry.
It's a good design.
This particular one was made in 1993.
